Since Season 4, there are loot pets in Diablo 4. How you can obtain and equip these companions to collect gold and materials for you is explained here on MeinMMO.
In Diablo 4, you had to collect gold, materials, and Hellfire embers yourself for a long time, while in Diablo 3 there are loot pets that do this for you. Since Season 28 of Diablo 3, the pets are even capable of collecting equipment and converting it into crafting materials. Players therefore wished for the return of these little companions.
The wish for a loot pet has been heard: Patch 1.4.2 surprisingly brought little companions to Diablo 4. How you can get them and what they can collect for you will be explained below.

How to Get and Equip a Pet
What kind of pets are these? From now on, companions are available in Diablo 4 that will follow you throughout Sanctuary, much like the Seneschall companions in Season 3. But the new pets collect gold and materials for you.
How do I get the pet? Once you log into Diablo 4, you will receive the quest “Faithful Companion.” Your task is to pet the “well-trained dog” in Kyovashad. And who could say no to that? Upon completing the quest, you will receive the dog companion Asheara.
How do I equip the pet? Once you have completed the quest, you can equip the companion at your wardrobe in the “Companions” tab. After that, you can pet him with the “Hello” emote and go monster hunting. Note that you need to equip the pet for each character separately. At the wardrobe, you also have the option to equip various animals.
What does my pet collect? Your loyal companion collects currencies and various materials for you:
- Gold
- Herbs
- Iron chunks
- Leather
- Gem fragments
- Crafting materials
- Forgotten souls
- Oboluses
- Embers in the Hellfire
- Burning ether in the Hellbreach dungeons and the Hell hordes
What does my pet not collect? Your pets do not collect quest items, nor animus, potions, equipment items, boss materials, and seeds of hatred in the PvP area. Also, “Exquisite Sparks” and “Scattered Prisms” are no longer collected automatically by you or your pet. They will be “sent” to your chest if you leave them lying around.
