Diablo 4 has released its first major patch notes, and we will show you the changes from update 1.008 in English. Small spoiler: All classes are now weaker.
On the morning of June 3rd, a slightly inconspicuous update for Diablo 4 went live. It was again around 300 MB, which hardly makes a dent on the hard drive.
But the adjustments are significant. All classes have been nerfed, the Whirlwind build of the Barbarians has even been utterly destroyed.

Diablo 4: Update 1.008 – Patch Notes
When is the update coming? The patch is already live.
How big is the update? You only need to download around 300 MB.
What’s included in the update? Adjustments for skills, Paragon glyphs, items, and aspects. Additionally, the developers provided an explanation of the thoughts behind the latest changes. You can find the explanation here under the patch notes.
Barbar Changes
- Skill: Challenging Shout
- Damage reduction at increased skill ranks from 4% to 2%
- Aspect: Bold Aspect
- Cooldown per enemy reduced to 1.0 to 1.9 seconds (previously 2.7 – 5.4)
- Maximum cooldown reduction of 6 seconds
- Aspect of the Dire Whirlwind
- Critical Chance per second increased only by 3% to 8% (previously 5 – 10)
- Maximum only 9% to 24% (previously 20 – 40)
- Item: Gohr’s Devastating Grips
- Explosion damage at the end of Whirlwind reduced to 16% to 26% (previously 50 – 70)
- Damage against stationary objects no longer counts
- Explosion damage increased only by the first 100 hits
Druid Changes
- Skill: Pulverize
- Lucky Hit Chance reduced from 33% to 25%
- Skill: Storm Strike
- Damage increased from 32% to 40%
- Skill: Grizzly Rage
- Bonus damage increased from 5/10/15% to 6/12/18%
- Specialization: Obsidian Slam
- Kills required increased to 20 from 10
- Specialization: Calm Before the Storm
- Lucky Hit Chance reduced from 15% to 10%
- Passive: Electric Shock
- Bonus damage increased from 5/10/15% to 6/12/18%.
- Shockwave Aspect
- Damage reduced to 60% to 100% (previously 90 – 130)
- Shattering Aspect
- Critical Chance reduced to 30% to 40% (previously 40 – 50)
- Lightning Dancer’s Aspect
- Damage increased to 0.7% – 0.8% (previously 0.5 – 0.6)
Necromancer Changes
- Skill: Blood Lance
- Damage increased to 80% (from 67.5)
- Skill: Army of the Dead
- Damage increased to 45% (from 30)
- Cooldown reduced to 70 seconds (from 90)
- Skill: Blood Wave
- Damage increased to 120% (from 90)
- Passive: Shadowblight
- Damage increased to 22% (from 20)
- Passive: Grim Harvest
- Essence reduced to 2/4/6 (from 3/6/9)
- Passive: Serration
- Critical Chance reduction to 0.3/0.6/0.9% (previously 0.5/1.0/1.5)
- Passive: Death’s Defense
- Maximum damage increased to 60/45/30% of life (previously 75/60/45)
- Specialization: Raise Skeleton
- Damage increased by 10%
- Specialization: Golem
- Damage increased by 10%
- Specialization: Blood Golem
- Life drain increased to 90% (from 40)
- Healing per hit when draining life increased to 5% (from 4)
- Specialization: Iron Golem
- Slam damage increased to 175% (from 25)

- Damage and life bonus from the golem increased to 40% (previously 30)

Rogue Changes
- Skill: Twisting Blades
- Cooldown reduction per enemy hit reduced from 0.25 to 0.1 seconds.
- Maximum cooldown reduction reduced to 2 seconds (from 3)
- Skill: Rapid Fire
- Damage increased to 30% (from 24)
- Skill: Dark Shroud
- Damage reduction per shadow from skill ranks reduced from 8% to 4%.
- Skill: Dash
- Enhanced Dash critical strike damage bonus reduced from 20% to 15%.
- Skill: Caltrops
- Damage increased from 30% to 40%.
Sorcerer Changes
- Skill: Arc Lash
- Lucky Hit Chance reduced from 30% to 14%.
- Cooldown reduction reduced from 0.25 to 0.15 seconds.
- Skill: Teleport
- Damage Reduction duration reduced from 5 to 3 seconds.
- Legendary Aspect Changes
- Aspect of Control: Bonus damage reduced from 30-40% to 25-35%.
General Changes
- Summons of Necromancer and Druid
- Now take only 1% damage from maximum life from damage-over-time effects
- Paragon Board adjustments: Nodes
- Attack Speed nodes give 50% less bonuses
- Paragon Board adjustments: Glyphs
- All Glyph scaling has been reduced by around 34%, except for the following
- Critical Strike Damage Glyph: Bonus reduced by around 66%.
- Vulnerable Glyph: Bonus reduced by around 66%.
- Glyph Bonus for rare nodes reduced by around 50%.
- Glyph Bonus for magical nodes reduced by around 40%.
- Glyph Bonus for Cold/Fire/Lightning/Physical/Non-Physical nodes reduced by around 62.5%.
- Treasure Goblins
- Significantly lower spawn rate in PvP zones

Dark Shroud
- Damage Reduction per shadow gained from Skill Ranks reduced from .8% to .4%.
Dash
- Enhanced Dash Critical Strike Damage bonus from 20% to 15%.
Caltrops
- Damage increased from 30% to 40%.

Concussive
- Critical Strike Chance reduced from 5/10/15% to 4/8/12%.

- Shimmering Teleport’s Damage Reduction duration reduced from 5 to 3 seconds.

- Maximum damage over time taken per damage instance reduced from 2% to 1% of maximum Life.

- Player Attack Speed nodes reduced by 50%.
Glyphs
- All Glyph Bonus scaling has been reduced by ~34%, except for the following:
- Critical Strike Damage Glyphs’ Bonus reduced by ~66%.
- Vulnerable Glyphs’ Bonus reduced by ~66%.
- Glyphs’ Bonus to Rare nodes reduced by ~50%.
- Glyphs’ Bonus to Magic nodes reduced by ~40%.
- Glyphs’ Bonus to Cold/Fire/Lightning/Non-Physical/Physical nodes reduced by ~62.5%.
Monster Changes
- Significantly reduced the spawn rate of Treasure Goblins within PvP zones.
What do the developers say about the adjustments? Blizzard explains that they are mostly satisfied with the overall class balance. The current changes fall into three categories:
- There were synergies that kept some classes alive for too long
- Some skills and builds were too weak, and they received a buff
- Paragon glyphs are too strong, and adjustments were needed
As a result, many skills that were considered the best options for a class after release were adjusted. Consequently, all classes received substantial nerfs, but also some buffs that may lead to new strong builds.
