Paragon Boards are a system in Diablo 4 that allows you to enhance your builds. MeinMMO explains how to obtain new boards, level up Paragon for more points, and what the Glyphs are all about.
What are Paragon Boards? Once you reach level 60, you no longer receive skill points in Diablo 4. Instead, you accumulate experience for your Paragon. You can collect a total of 300 Paragon points to invest in Paragon boards and further improve your character.
Each Paragon Board contains different “nodes” that have various effects:
- normal (white): increase dexterity, strength, intelligence, or willpower
- magical (blue): specifically improve properties such as damage against frozen enemies, etc.
- rare (yellow): enhance specific properties further and have additional effects when prerequisites are met (for example, 250 dexterity/intelligence, etc.)
- legendary (orange; not on the starting board): unique effects that can significantly define your build
- Glyph socket (red): here you can place Glyphs; more about this in the Glyph section
Unlike the Paragon system in Diablo 3, you do not level up endlessly and become stronger. Instead, you need to carefully choose how to allocate the points and what you want to skill on a board.

Expanding and Using Paragon
How many Paragon boards are there? Each class starts with the same “starting board” and receives 8 additional boards to choose from, specifically designed for the class. You may use a total of 5 boards. The class boards come with legendary nodes. Each of these belongs to the possible effects and elements of your class, such as frost for the Sorceress or blood for the Necromancer.
How do I unlock new Paragon boards? Once you have laid out a path on a Paragon board to the point that you reach a “gate,” you can choose a new board. You can preview new boards via “Preview.”
You can then rotate the boards and attach them to your existing board as they seem appropriate to you.

Which Paragon boards do I need? Which boards you should use and how you skill the paths entirely depends on your build and how you want to play. On MeinMMO you can find the tier list with the best builds for Diablo 4 to get an overview.
Additionally, d4builds.gg offers a way to view and plan builds and Paragon boards for every class. This lets you think ahead about what you want to skill.
Most builds, however, focus on socketing and activating as many Glyphs as possible. This means you will use many boards that may not necessarily fit the build at first glance. More on this in the Glyph section.
Resetting Paragon – Here’s How
If you want to reset your Paragon, you can either do it point by point or by clicking Refund All
under the Paragon board. Both options cost gold.
If you reset points individually, you must start at one end. If other Paragon nodes are still connected, you cannot reset a point. If you want to swap out entire boards, every skill point must be reset back to the node first.
Leveling Paragon – Here’s How to Quickly Gain Points
How do I get Paragon points? From level 60 onwards, you receive one Paragon point for each additional level. You can also gain more through specific milestones. This way, you can reach a total of 300 Paragon points:
- by leveling up
- 24 Paragon points through maximum reputation in all areas
- 4 Paragon points through Statues of Lilith
Where is the best place to level up? Essentially, nothing changes after level 60 regarding how to level up best. Since Season 4, the best method to quickly unlock Paragon points is the hell floods. Here you receive massive amounts of XP and loot.
You can find tips on this in our leveling guide for fast leveling in Diablo 4.
But also the Pit is good for leveling. There, you also upgrade your Glyphs. Starting with Season 6, this can only be done in this content and constitutes a large part of your strength.
Using and Leveling Glyphs in the Paragon Board
What are Glyphs? Each Paragon board has a socket for a Glyph. You get Glyphs through various activities in Diablo 4, as long as you are at least at torment level 1. Since Season 6, Blizzard has removed the often-criticized world levels.
Glyphs significantly define your builds. They have special effects that improve skills and properties. To be truly strong, however, you need to “activate” them.
With each Glyph, you will find a basic effect and a prerequisite for an additional effect. For example, you must have researched enough strength, dexterity, willpower, or intelligence in the “radius” of the Glyph.
You achieve this by selecting the corresponding normal nodes on the Paragon board. Glyphs can be leveled up to reinforce them. At level 46 of the Glyph, the radius expands, allowing you to access other paths on the board and/or gain more bonuses from the Glyph. The maximum level for Glyphs is 100.
How do I upgrade Glyphs? You upgrade your Glyphs in the Pit based on attempts. The Pit is an endgame activity in Diablo 4. The chance to successfully upgrade a Glyph is based on the level of the Glyph and the Pit level you complete. You can find everything about the Pit here: Diablo 4: The Pit – Materials, entrance, and rewards of the endgame activity
