Diablo 4 offers countless loot opportunities alongside silent chests that you can open with whispering keys. How to obtain these keys, where to find silent chests, and what the murmuring oboluses are all about is explained here in our guide.
What are silent chests? In Sanctuary, you will encounter mysterious boxes on your journeys sooner or later. These are called silent chests and are tightly sealed. To access the precious loot in the chest, you need whispering keys.
Where can I find silent chests? You can find silent chests scattered throughout Sanctuary. Our map guide shows possible spawn points for these chests.
We tested the map and found that not every location contains a chest. It is therefore very likely that they can spawn randomly.

Where can I find whispering keys? So far, you can only buy the whispering keys from the curiosity vendor, and only with the currency “Oboluses”. One of these vendors is located in Kyovashad.
For one key, you have to pay 20 oboluses. You can then purchase one key or, if you have enough spare change, even buy in packs of 5.
How do I get oboluses? To obtain oboluses, you need to complete public events in Sanctuary.
These appear randomly and are marked on your map with an orange circle. We participated in such an event and received a total of 35 oboluses alongside loot.
Are the silent chests worth it? These special chests drop items as well as gold. However, there is no talk of good loot here.
The only good thing is the gold that the chests drop. It is a good source to gain gold on the side, but not worth focusing on hunting these chests. It’s probably not worth it. Should this change with an update, you will hear about it on MeinMMO.
