In the Open Beta of Diablo 4, many players have the problem that they have no sound or certain things cannot be heard – especially with voice outputs in German. MeinMMO shows you the solutions.
What is the problem? Since the launch of the Open Beta of Diablo 4 on March 24, there have been reports of missing sound. Those who play cannot hear their own character nor anyone else speaking, neither in-game nor in cutscenes.
The problem likely arises because the localization is not yet complete. Texts are translated, but voices are still missing in all languages except English.
How to get sound back: There are several proposed solutions, of which we can at least confirm one:
- Change your sound to stereo if it is set to surround.
- Play in full screen mode and do not alt-tab out of the game, that can lead to problems.
- Change the voice output to English – that helped us.
- If this option is not available, you will need to switch the entire game to English first (requires a restart).
- In the Battle.net launcher, click the gear icon next to “Play” for Diablo IV, then on game settings. Under Diablo IV Beta, set “Text & Voice Output” to English.
It is also sufficient to have set the option to English once in the launcher or to download the language directly during installation. In the options within the game itself, you can at least set the text back to German as long as you are in the main menu. The voice output remains English, but at least characters will speak again.
Blizzard showcased the first German voices of Prava and Lilith just before the Open Beta, but they are apparently not yet in the game:

In addition to sound issues, some players are struggling with disconnects and connection problems. We have already gathered known error codes with solutions. Blizzard is also already working on resolving the biggest issues.
Already in the first beta, players reported that Diablo 4 supposedly destroys graphics cards. At least the problem with overloaded GPU memory still exists. In this case, you should set the graphic settings to “Medium” or lower.
Blizzard already warned before the beta launch that the influx of players on the servers would be enormous and there would be queues. At the moment, it seems that this has largely subsided, and work is also being done on further problems.
