Since Season 6, players in Diablo 4 have been struggling with a lack of common materials, making it harder to upgrade their equipment. A hotfix aims to ease the grind.
What is lacking? While players lacked gold in Season 4, the most common materials seem to be the new bottleneck in Season 6:
- For upgrading and enchanting your equipment, you’ll need a bunch of materials, including Obsidian, which you get in Nightmare Dungeons and the Pit.
- You’ll also need Iron Nuggets and Raw Hides. You can obtain these by dismantling items and from chests from the “Whispering Tree.”
- Many players have been lacking Iron Nuggets and Raw Hides since the start of Season 6, preventing them from upgrading their equipment. This is crucial in order to tackle more challenging content.
With the new season, Blizzard has overhauled the entire level system and removed the often-criticized world tiers. The developers have also made adjustments to crafting. You can craft Mythics in two different ways, but for one you need a bunch of runes.
Furthermore, the Stygian Stones have been removed from the game, and for completion, there is only Obsidian left. While players are apparently accumulating tons of it now, they lack other materials. The latest hotfix aims to simplify the grind.
What does the update change? On October 20, Community Director Adam Fletcher announced on X that the team plans to adjust some crafting materials like Raw Hides and Iron Nuggets with a hotfix at the beginning of the week.
Then the update followed on October 21:
Hotfix 3, via Blizzard Forum on October 22
- The acquisition rates for Raw Hides and Iron Nuggets have been increased.
- Increased material gains from the Bubbling Opal rewards.
With the “Bubbling Opals,” you not only increase XP gain but also the drop chances of certain items. The green “Bubbling Opals of Materials” ensure that enemies regularly drop additional crafting materials and herbs.
On Reddit, the hotfix is discussed in a post. There, Due_Cheetah_377 notes that after the update, with an active “green opal,” he was able to collect a lot of materials. A particularly high amount of Raw Hides dropped. Especially the large and Chaos chests from the “Whispering Tree” seem to be worth it as a source, he writes.
At the latest in the endgame of Diablo 4, certain materials become more important, such as Angel’s Breath and Obsidian for crafting, but also materials to summon bosses. For your Paragon Boards, you also need Glyphs, and runes play an important role in your endgame builds. Our simple overview shows where you can best farm in Diablo 4 for what you currently need.
