In Diablo 4, the “Lunar Awakening” event is currently taking place, where you can earn rewards. You can learn how to farm efficiently here on MeinMMO.
On February 6th, the “Lunar Awakening” started in Diablo 4. Inspired by typical “Chinese New Year events”, you will receive bonuses during the event and can earn some rewards. You collect “Favor of the Ancients” and can unlock a total of 10 levels in the event, each containing two rewards.
To start the quest, you need to travel to Ked Bardu and speak with the NPC Ying-Yue. After that, you can start farming for your rewards – and complete the event in under an hour.
How do I farm efficiently? To receive the rewards and complete the levels of the event, you need to collect “Favor of the Ancients”. This is done by activating the Lunar Shrines and slaying monsters while the bonuses of the special shrine are active.
To quickly get through the event and grab the rewards, there are two options. And to add some variety to farming, you can switch between them.
Purify Lunar Shrines in the Overworld
The Lunar Shrines appear in several areas on the map, identifiable by the special symbol. By completing the task to purify the shrines, you not only receive bonuses but also gifts for the Tree of Whispers. You can recognize them by the special symbol on the map.
In the first screenshot, you can see that some Lunar Shrines are located in event areas, identifiable by the red circle. Here, you must first complete the event to be able to “use” the special shrine.
In our case, there were instances where there was no shrine despite the map symbol being present, not even in the vicinity. Other players have reported this as well, such as Diablo expert Rob2628 on YouTube. Don’t linger too long in the area and switch to another one.

Dungeons with the Affix “Favor of the Ancients”
During the event, you can receive Nightmarish Seals for dungeons and vaults with the affix “Favor of the Ancients”, on one hand in the “great awakened loot” you receive in the event, and on the other hand in the dungeons themselves that have the affix.
The affix means that Lunar Shrines appear in the dungeons and vaults, and you also receive a 10% bonus on your glyph XP. To farm for the event, you should stick to these seals and initially ignore others.
If you receive seals with the “Favor of the Ancients” affix, you should definitely use them – but in any case, keep them. According to the developers, the seals retain the affix even after the event (source: news.blizzard.com).
If you stick to the two options and essentially move from one Lunar Shrine to another – in the Overworld and/or in the dungeons, you can complete the event in under an hour. However, you don’t need to hurry (yet), as the Lunar Awakening lasts until February 20th.
