The beta of Diablo 4 is said to have damaged hardware. Now a patch is in sight and the community hopes that the biggest bugs will be fixed before the final beta.
At the start of the beta of Diablo 4, some players complained that Diablo 4 was supposedly destroying their graphics cards. This primarily affected models from Nvidia. It awakened bad memories of the MMORPG New World.
Now Nvidia has introduced its latest game-ready driver for its graphics cards, which you should definitely install before the final beta. According to Nvidia, this new update fixes a lot of problems.
Two problems caused harsh criticism in Diablo 4
What problems were there? Specifically, it mainly concerns two problems that many criticize:
- On one hand, the “memory leak problems:” Because Diablo used an enormous amount of video memory on graphics cards. This caused crashes and ugly stutters.
- On the other hand, there were drastic spikes in power consumption during the cutscenes. At times, there were power peaks of over 150 watts.
In the community, many are now hoping that manufacturers like Nvidia can get the problems under control with the update (via Reddit). Because then, one could also enjoy the final beta to the fullest – without having to risk one’s expensive hardware.
Players feel reminded of the problems in New World
Why does the problem seem familiar to many? The MMORPG New World struggled with the accusation of damaging players’ hardware. Despite relatively low system requirements, there were strong loads and heating problems with the CPU and GPU, which had unsettled many players.
Here, Amazon Games then pushed a fix that mainly locked the framerate in the menus to a fixed value and reduced the load on the hardware.
