Not every player of Diablo 4 can escape the demonic influences and over time adapt to the rough habits of Sanctuary. For some, it goes as far as leaving NPCs to their fate, who call for help. But for the loot, you still stop by.
Some quests in the action RPG Diablo 4 can also be seen as character tests. This includes a small event that one often encounters in basements or dungeons.
Three people find themselves helpless amid monsters and demons. We, the glorious heroes, are supposed to help them survive an attack.
However, some players are so frustrated by the event that they leave the helpless NPC trio to their fate. But the loot at the end is good enough to pick it up later.
Currently, Season 1 in Diablo 4 is running. A trailer for it can be found here:
NPCs fall over if you just look at them
What is the problem with the event? Many players have trouble keeping the three NPCs alive during the monster attack.
For the “mastery,” at least one NPC must stay alive at the end. Each surviving NPC then drops another handful of loot, which means a nice pile of gear at the event with three NPCs and a loot chest.
However, the event is not optimally balanced, and may even be faulty.
Players report that the three NPCs are already on the ground after one hit. Moreover, the NPCs do not behave as if they want to save their own lives – they run into ground effects of the enemies, take unnecessary damage, and get hit from all directions.
The values of the NPCs seem to vary, as we have also noticed at MeinMMO. While colleague Benedict Grothaus has been complaining about NPCs always dying right away since release, I have almost never had problems completing the event.
“Teleport to sell, come back to the chest”
What do players say about it? On Reddit, the event is currently being discussed under the title: “This ‘keep the incompetent idiots alive’ minigame needs to be revised” (via reddit.com).
Here it becomes clear that some players have a problem with the event. The top comment clarifies: “I have only managed the ‘mastery’ once. It felt like winning the lottery.”
But the depths of the issues only show deeper in the thread.
User “xXxmilkdrinkerxXxx” shares his tactic: “I like to activate the event, let them call for help, and then run away.” This is one of the comments with the most upvotes in the thread.
“-SparksLinerHigh-” even goes a bit further: “I activate the event and use the time for a teleport [to the city] to sell and then come back to the chest.” After the event time ends, you still have to deal with a bunch of creatures and then receive a loot chest as a reward.
Three users are immediately excited about the reckless idea and want to use it themselves. Only user “b_i_g__g_u_y” counters with a “You monster.” Maybe there is still hope for Sanctuary.
How do you deal with the event? Do you also have problems or do the three NPCs survive regularly? Do you consider this to be a flaw in the game? Leave a comment on the topic.
