Gold is a scarce resource in Diablo 4, which you need for all sorts of things. MeinMMO reveals where you can best farm gold in Season 4 and how to save your gold.
This is how you get gold the fastest: Essentially, you earn gold from almost all sources in the game. The best method to acquire gold in Season 4 is through whispers and player trading. It’s important to note that you can really farm gold effectively only at world level 4.
When you silence the whisper and hand in the task at the tree, you will receive between 5 and 15 million gold at world level 4. That’s a lot. Whispers are particularly good because you can combine them with almost any other content – especially with the revamped hell floods from Season 4:
- Hell floods are permanently active
- you can enter them from world level 1
- they are the best spot for XP farming and leveling, and they also provide the affixes you need for your build
You therefore cover almost everything you need for farming with hell floods in conjunction with whispers.
However, you get the most gold by trading with other players. In Season 4, you can trade all items except Uber Uniques and those items you have already modified with the new crafting system. Particularly worthwhile are:
- Items you would consider an upgrade
- Legendaries with great affixes
- Legendaries with rare affixes and a max roll on them
You can trade either directly in the trade chat or via external websites or Discord. Most experienced traders rely on websites, although we generally advise caution when you need to share data.

If you need to get gold quickly, you might consider selling items. You can tell by a symbol on a legendary item whether you already have the corresponding affix in the codex or not. If there is no symbol on the item, you can safely sell it.

Saving gold – What should I spend gold on?
Season 4 is enormously expensive in terms of gold. You will need gold in large quantities early on and will require increasingly larger sums until the endgame. If you are short on cash, you should observe the following priorities:
- Upgrade potions. This is expensive, but important for survival, allowing you to farm more efficiently.
- Imprint affixes on items if you really need them; without a decent build, you won’t get far.
- Complete items. This costs 10 million gold in the final step, but at that point, you should be far enough along to farm it back quickly.
For now, refrain from buying additional storage space. You need significantly less storage in Season 4 than before, as you save considerable space due to several changes. Most of it will be sold or salvaged directly anyway.
Unlike at the end of Diablo 3, you are currently encountering gold problems more quickly in Diablo 4. This is because many services are simply extremely expensive but necessary to improve.
The most important tip for saving: Your build should come first. The more you can endure and the more damage you deal, the easier it will be to acquire additional gold.
