There is currently a lot of complaining about Season 6 and the changes in Diablo 4. However, players are also finding positive aspects that make the game much better than before and say: One doesn’t have to complain about everything.
Diablo 4 has been receiving quite a bit of criticism in Season 6. The season mechanic, the Realm Shifter, was too slow for many, and opals weren’t functioning properly. Players also complained that regular crafting materials drop too rarely and that they cannot upgrade their gear. Blizzard released an update for both issues.
When browsing Reddit, you’ll find numerous threads criticizing Diablo 4. However, one player wrote in a post on Reddit that he finds the new changes and the pace of the game much better. The season lasts longer than three weeks; players should take some time to relax, slay monsters, and have fun, he claims. Top builds do take time. He asks whether one really needs to be upset that Diablo 4 is a “real grind.”
What do players praise? The community discusses the state of Diablo 4 in the comments. Individual users agree with the author of the post. NetBurstPresler praises the changes to the Paragon system and the difficulty levels.
Since Season 6, the max level is level 60 and you collect Paragon points separately, up to 300. In another post on Reddit, one player comments that this always provides a feeling of progress. You lose nothing by extending the grind. He believes that only being able to equip five Paragon boards is also sensible; it is “user-friendly.”
Blizzard has also removed the often-criticized world levels and introduced new difficulty levels that you now unlock in the pit. You can find out more about this in the video:
“99% of drops are worthless”
What do the critics say: Even on the PTR, players criticized the changes to the loot that Blizzard made. The community felt that Diablo 4 has become too exhausting with Season 6. The consensus in the comments on the Reddit post is that many players still remain dissatisfied with the loot system – whether regarding drops or crafting.
Although Blizzard listened to the criticism from the PTR and made further changes to the loot for Season 6, it seems that this is still not enough for the community.
The user Marshmallow-Bun finds it good that drops are rarer – but they must also be meaningful. The majority of the loot is worthless. In Season 6, this is even worse, as legendary items drop more rarely and at the same time are 99% useless. There’s a lack of balancing here.
Crafting, particularly the completion aspect, seems to frustrate players. decadent-dragon notes that completing items is not enjoyable. “I would prefer if completion were more expensive, but I could choose what I want rather than rolling repeatedly. I’ve reset my helmet 15 times to get “maximum life” twice,” he writes.
In general, many write that they simply do not find the loot system good since Season 6. Jafar_420 believes that one finds more uniques and mythics than strong legendary items that fit the gear. And SamMerlini notes that there is a difference between a meaningful grind and unnecessarily stretching playtime.
Whether Blizzard will adjust the loot system once again is unclear, but the developers often listen to criticism and bring updates to the game. Recently, many players criticized the lack of common materials, which became an annoying grind. Particularly rawhide and iron chunks became the new bottleneck in Season 6 and prevented players from upgrading their gear.
