Just 4 days after the release of Season 3, Blizzard has released another patch with bug fixes for Diablo 4: Patch 1.3.0a. With these changes, the team mainly improves the trap mechanics and the vaults. Both were criticized by fans.
The highlights of the patch:
- Traps are no longer as punishing in vaults. The loot has also been adjusted: In the last room of a vault, you now receive a treasure chest after the final fight.
- The Echo of Malphas is now stronger, but it no longer needs to be summoned with Pearls. There is a new currency: “Igneous Cores.” Additionally, the drop rate of the unique tuning stones from the Echo has been increased.
- It is now generally easier to level the governing and tuning stones from the Seneschal, making it feel more useful. In our guide, you can find more information on the Seneschal and the stones.

What was the problem? In particular, the vaults were criticized by fans. Shortly after the release of Season 3, many players complained that the large seasonal theme of Season 3 was more annoying than entertaining.
The new dungeon type “Vaults” doesn’t just have plenty of enemies but also traps. If you are hit too often, you receive less loot at the end of the dungeon. The final battle, which can quickly nullify any success, offered no rewards at all.
Blizzard had already promised to address the biggest criticisms. This has now happened. In the vaults, you now receive 10 stacks of Zoltun’s Warding for one Pearl instead of 3. Additionally, you have a grace period of 1.5 seconds when hit by traps, meaning you lose only one shield every 1.5 seconds (previously 1 second).
There is also generally more loot in the vaults. The new end chest guarantees a Legendary item starting at level 26 and has a chance for another. The same applies to the new additional boss Son of Malphas.
Blizzard makes the best farm spots more enjoyable, improves the Seneschal
Traps in general are also being nerfed: The pillars in the Arcane Tremors no longer push you back, the speed of projectiles and the size of hit areas from traps have been reduced.
For the Seneschal, it is now easier to level the stones you use to strengthen the construct. For instance, crafting a crate with stones now always costs 200 Shattered Stones and 20 Iron Chunks at each level.
The experience needed to bring a stone to level 10 has been reduced. Blizzard does not specify by how much. If you find a stone that you already have at level 10, you instead receive 150-200 Shattered Stones. The Son of Malphas and Seneschal stone chests now drop more governing and tuning stones.
Additionally, Blizzard provides numerous bug fixes. For example, a pesky bug that prevented players on PlayStation from seeing the map will be resolved. Furthermore, the quest “Drums of the Vault” should now be finally fixed.
