To reach the next world tiers in Diablo 4, players level up their characters and refine their builds. However, a streamer had a crazy idea: he wanted to enter a dungeon recommended for level 50 with a level 1 character to unlock world tier 3.
Who comes up with such an idea? The idea came from Diablo expert and streamer Raxxanterax (Raxx). He claims to have been streaming daily on Twitch for 10 years. There, he mainly showcases ARPGs like Diablo 4, Path of Exile, and Last Epoch. His streams, YouTube videos, and guides are considered a go-to source for many Diablo players.
Recently, Raxx leveled up to level 100 in Hardcore mode for Diablo 4 with three other streamers in 4 hours, only to then face the hardest boss. Spoiler: It did not end well.
In the description of a YouTube video from June 3, he mentions that he spent most of season 4 in Diablo 4 “speedrunning.” Now he plans to tackle the dungeon for world tier 3 with a level 1 character. And in Hardcore mode, meaning he loses his character if it dies.
What kind of dungeon is it? The dungeon is the “Cathedral of Light,” the final dungeon at world tier 2 in Kyovashad. Completing the dungeon unlocks world tier 3, which is recommended starting at level 50. The enemies in the dungeon itself are also at that level.
“By the way, this guy can absolutely kill me”
How did his endeavor go? Raxx explains in the YouTube video that he created a sorceress and gathered a few items in the Hell Flood. He outfitted her with aspects and equipped her with affixes through “Tempering”. After that, he deleted the character and created a new sorceress.
Only by doing this could he wear a suitable equipment set with the new sorceress without looting it and stay at level 1. Then he ventured into the Cathedral of Light at world tier 2 with his sorceress.
He fought through the cathedral, distributing skill points he earned by leveling up. He noted that this was quite dangerous. Raxx emphasizes that he plays in Hardcore mode, so there are no second chances.
Raxx focused on killing the important enemies to collect “Animus” from them. That opened up the next section. On the way, Raxx said, “Okay, what could go wrong if I go up here?”
Upon reaching the final boss of the dungeon, the streamer noted, “By the way, this guy can absolutely kill me.” But Raxx used his skills to protect himself from damage, barely needed healing potions, and his sorceress defeated the “Curator.” Raxx laughed. He successfully tackled the level 50 dungeon at level 1 and unlocked world tier 3. In the end, he was level 11.
In the YouTube video, you can see his run, his equipment, and his skills:
What equipment did he have? Raxxanterax crafted a set of legendary items before the run and placed them in his stash. He also used the following affixes, among others, which he applied to the items using “Tempering”:
- Lucky hit: up to a chance of 40%, +3,000 shadow damage
- +Maximum life
- +Damage
- +Damage to distant enemies
- +Dodge chance
- +Movement speed
Especially the helmet helped him deal more damage with the lucky hit affix. But there were also moments when he barely dealt any damage to the “level 50” enemies. In the video, he notes that you can see when the lucky hit triggers and the effect activates, causing damage. “And until then, we do almost nothing,” Raxx remarks.
The “Tempering” is a new crafting system that was added in season 4 of Diablo 4. It costs no gold and only a few materials that you automatically collect while playing and farming. Therefore, you should always use it when equipping new items – as you can see, it pays off starting from level 1. When improving items, you should definitely follow a sequence, because: A silly mistake can cost you millions of gold – and a perfect item
