In Diablo 4, each class unlocks a special mechanic with a quest. Many players find this class quest annoying, but Blizzard is planning changes for Season 7 to make it more enjoyable.
A significant “Quality of Life” change that Blizzard has planned for Season 7 relates to the class quests you need to complete in Diablo 4. You receive the class quest at a certain level, which unlocks a special mechanic – such as the Golem with the Necromancer or the Enchanting slots with the Sorceress.
This is the problem with the quest: Currently, you have to complete the class quest each time you level a class. Even if you’ve already played it in a previous season – or if multiple player characters of the same class are played within the season. Starting with Season 7, this is set to be simplified.
What is going to change? In the “Campfire Chat” livestream, the developers explained on November 21, 2024, that they have planned a change for the class quests in Diablo 4 for Season 7. You will only need to complete the special quest once to unlock it permanently for the respective class. However, if you want, you can still choose to complete the class quest.
Game designer Charles Dunn explains in the YouTube stream:
For players who have already completed this: You must first log in with this character to activate the unlock for your entire account. Once that is done, every new Sorceress you create will immediately unlock the first enchanting slot as soon as she reaches level 15. The second slot will then be unlocked at level 30.
The exact level varies for each class, as it depends on when this mechanic would typically be unlocked. However, you do not have to go through the entire quest line again. But for those of you who enjoy playing these quests, there will be quite an attractive reward if you choose to do them. The mechanic will, however, be available to you directly.
It should work somewhat like the Altars of Lilith, notes design director Colin Finer. You “collect” them once and unlock them for all player characters on the realm. Finer adds that you can log in with both the seasonal character for the unlock and in the eternal realm.
“Class quests are a pointless waste of time”
What does the community say about this? On Reddit, Esoteriqism writes in his post that while this change is small, it is significant. He is glad that he no longer has to complete the class quest multiple times to do theory crafting for his characters.
The sentiment in the thread shows that the change is well received by the community. ZebraSandwich4Lyf writes: “Yes, this is a great change. Class quests are a pointless waste of time. It was really annoying to have to do them multiple times.”
Several users note that the class quest for Druids is particularly annoying. Hvanderw writes: “For some reason, I always want to play [Druids], but I hate clearing the base, then doing the quest, and finally unlocking everything. Just terrible.”
And even hardcore players welcome the “Quality of Life” change. Banhammer300 notes that he has already completed the class quest of the Spiritborne 7 times this season – among all the deaths of his player characters. And Sjwt writes: “For HC players, this is a big change. I personally love it.”
In the comments, some users also mention that with a new feature, you will soon not need to create new player characters to do theory crafting.
