Checklist – Should I buy Diablo 4?
To help you make a faster decision, we have prepared 10 questions for you. If you answer 7 or more of them with “Yes”, it is worth buying for you. If less, you should reconsider whether another game might be better suited:
- In a game, I want to feel really powerful and be the hero
- Different classes with special skills are important to me
- I enjoyed Path of Exile, Lost Ark, or Diablo 3/Diablo Immortal
- I like meeting other players in my world
- Looting and leveling up are a must in a game
- A good combat system with a lot of action is important to me
- I enjoy grinding and collecting new items for the perfect build for hours
- Cosmetics in a full-price game don’t bother me
- I am totally into dark worlds
- A good look is important to me
Note that Diablo 4 offers a so-called “isometric perspective,” which is a view from “above at an angle.” Especially if you are new to the ARPG genre, this might be unusual. The controls need to suit you; otherwise, Diablo 4 won’t be fun for you.

How much playtime is there in Diablo 4? In general, Diablo 4 is supposed to provide 180 hours of gameplay until you have a character at “max”. The campaign will take up a part of the time but probably a rather small one.
Diablo 4 also relies on ongoing service. After release, you will regularly receive free updates with new seasons and a battle pass, in which you can earn cosmetics, for example.
Monetization worries fans before release
The general tenor regarding Diablo 4 is currently positive from almost all directions. Most players are looking forward to the game and want to give Blizzard another chance, already seeing a big success in the game.
Only one thing is still causing concern: the shop. Diablo 4 will get a shop in addition to the battle pass, where you can buy cosmetics. A few skins have already been introduced, but even the free skins from the game are nice.
The developers previously promised that there would be no “Pay2Win” elements, but after the debacle with Diablo Immortal, Blizzard has lost a lot of trust here. Because there it was also stated that one could not buy equipment – and in the end, there were indeed gems, the most important items in Immortal.
How the shop in Diablo 4 will perform can only be said exactly at release. Accordingly, it is difficult to make a concrete statement about whether the purchase is already worthwhile:
