In Diablo 4, Season 7 is just around the corner and brings back a beloved hero from Diablo 3. You can’t choose him as a class, but you can still utilize some of his abilities.
Which class is it about? It’s about the Witch Doctor. The Witch Doctor was one of the player favorites in Diablo 3, and many of you have wished for this class in Diablo 4.
Instead of bringing back the favored classes from the Diablo series in Vessel of Hatred, Blizzard opted for something new. Thus, the Spiritborn class was introduced with the expansion.
In Season 7, while you still won’t have the option to play the Witch Doctor, there will be various skills that remind you of the beloved class. Overall, the upcoming season revolves around the new witch powers. You can find the complete patch notes for Season 7 here.
How does the Witch Doctor return? Not as an individual class, but in the form of separate skills. In Season 7 of Diablo 4, there are witch powers that you can equip. They represent the new mechanic in the upcoming season. Two of them were presented by Blizzard in the “Campfire Chat” livestream on January 16, 2025 on YouTube.
The developers themselves say that these new powers are inspired by the skills of the Witch Doctor – and at least two of them are very similar:
- The Poison Frog Minion that you summon to attack enemies and poison them. Upon its death, the frog explodes. From rank 5 onwards, it also pulls enemies to itself and taunts them.
- The Fire Bats Minion that attacks enemies in a deadly swarm and deals fire damage. At higher ranks, the bats stun the enemies.

Season 7 is all about the witches
What else is new in Season 7? Season 7 revolves around the witch powers and brings new “Occult Gems” into the game, alongside the special skills. The occult gems are seasonal, socketable items that you can get from the “Whispering Tree”. For that, you need, among other things, the heads of the “Head Rotters” and gem fragments.
Additionally, Blizzard is overhauling the layout of the area at the “Whispering Tree”. Vendors will be added, and the waypoint will be moved, so players can access the tree faster. There will also be “Ravens of the Tree” on the map where you can drop off your offerings.
On top of that, Blizzard is introducing a feature in Season 7 that players have wished for since the release: the armor chamber. It allows for a quick switch between different builds. This is especially practical in the endgame when utilizing various builds for bosses and the pit.
