Blizzard recently tested the new Season 5 for Diablo 4 on the PTR. Now the first changes are known that will come after the test for the actual season. The expert Rob on Twitch was able to share some of these in advance. Players are already showing their enthusiasm.
Where does the information come from?
- Rob is one of the biggest experts on Diablo 4 and is known for his deep expertise in class mechanics. He often provides absurdly strong builds.
- From July 10 to July 14, Rob was in Irvine, California, to see the new class directly from Blizzard. He was able to speak with some developers there.
- After he returned, Rob was already able to share live some of the upcoming changes for Season 5 in his Twitch stream.
These are the changes: The expert summarized the changes he is allowed to talk about in a Google Doc. Among the biggest changes is that all unique items (“Uniques”) will become better.
Each Unique will receive a new affix and stronger stats. The goal is that every build uses 2-4 of these items without becoming weaker – which can currently happen with the new Great Affixes on regular Legendary items. Other changes include:
- The mental cage from Season 4 is firmly integrated into the game – with this item, you make Hell floods stronger and more rewarding.
- You can use potions while suffering from control effects.
- Items with Great Affixes can be hardened more often .
- Enchanting no longer requires Angel’s Breath.
- World bosses will become stronger.
- Blood maidens in Hell floods can be summoned more easily.
There will also be numerous balance changes and buffs. Druids, Necromancers, and Sorceresses, for example, will generally become stronger by scaling better with their main attributes. Hunters will receive this buff as well, but slightly weaker.
Barbarians will remain at the current scaling and receive some nerfs. This will balance the huge class difference between Barbarians and others.
One of the biggest changes affects the Infernal Hordes, the new mode in Season 5. The waves will appear faster, there will be more loot and more monsters. During the season, additional difficulties are expected to be added.
After Season 5, the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred will launch – You can see the intro here:
Rogue will likely be number 1
Players are excited about the changes so far. In particular, the mental cage was a great wish of many fans who asked to be allowed to keep the item (via Reddit). Angel’s Breath has been a point of criticism among players since the release.
The Infernal Hordes have been one of the biggest points of criticism for Season 5 so far. As a new, major feature of the season, they could not convince on the PTR. The expert Raxxanterax, for example, said that almost everything about Season 5 is great, just not the hordes.
So far, they have lacked a reason to play them: They took a long time, the rewards were poor, and if one made a mistake, one got nothing. Not even the Burning Butcher changed anything about that.
Some of the changes, such as those to the Barbarian and the Necromancer, are still controversial. However, the overall mood is positive.
The changes shown here are still not complete. Blizzard will release the patch notes with all information about the differences between PTR and the season at a later time. The season starts on August 6. Here you will find all information about Season 5.
Before that, there will also be information about the new class that comes with Vessel of Hatred. Both Rob and we were at the event in Irvine and were able to see the Spiritborn in advance. You can find the details here on Thursday, July 18, when the class will be officially introduced. Discussions about it are already ongoing: “Will everyone want to play” – Twitch streamer talks about the new class in Diablo 4, compares it to WoW
