On the evening of October 4, Blizzard announced in a developer stream on Twitch that their title Diablo 4 will indeed be released on the PC platform Steam. The release date is set for October 17. Diablo 4 will bring achievements and will work on the Steam Deck.
This is the situation:
- Diablo 4 is indeed coming to Steam. This was announced in a livestream by the developer Blizzard on the evening of October 4.
- After Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 will be the second title that Blizzard brings to Steam. Overwatch 2 came to Valve’s platform in August 2023. PC gamers have traditionally relied on purchasing and activating Blizzard games through Battle.net.
- Diablo 4 will celebrate its debut on Steam together with Season 2 of Diablo 4, “The Season of Blood.”
“The Season of Blood” is supposed to give Diablo 4 a new momentum, so to speak, to be an injection of fresh blood:
The Steam Deck will support Diablo 4
Will the game also work on the Steam Deck? Yes, it will. This was confirmed by Development Director Adam Fletcher.
It will be a complete Steam release, with friends list, achievements, and other features of Valve’s platform. Diablo 4 will then run on Battle.net, XBox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
The Steam page for Diablo 4 has already gone live (via steam). Anyone who wants can add the game to their wishlist there.
Activision Blizzard announced in 2023 that they would be bringing a selection of their titles to Steam to provide players worldwide with the easiest possible access to their games.
How will this work? Anyone who wants to play Diablo 4 through Steam will need to purchase the game on the platform and then connect their Battle.net account. This will enable cross-platform play and additional features.
