First players report that they have gained access to the Closed Beta of Diablo 4. We at MeinMMO reveal what is in the beta and how you can still participate.
What kind of beta is this?
- At the end of September, Blizzard announced that it would start a Closed Beta for the upcoming Diablo 4.
- In the beta, endgame content is to be tested and it is subject to a non-disclosure agreement (“NDA”). No information is to be shared.
- No exact start date was provided. However, since October 19, first players have reported that they were allowed to test the content – on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
- Anyone who has not yet received an invitation still has a chance. At least players report that they received an invitation even after October 19. Blizzard itself stated that all invitations would be sent out by November 18, 2022, at the latest.
Here’s how to check if you are included: If you were selected, you should find an entry for Diablo 4 in your Battle.net client on PC and you should be able to download the beta there. A confirming email should also arrive.
Important: Do not click on links in emails from which you are not sure they really come from Blizzard. Normally, your account is activated directly via the launcher and the email serves merely as a notification.
Fans are discussing who was invited and what people had to do to get an invite. Because Blizzard wants very specific players to test.
Diablo 4 starts with 5 classes. The last release class, the Necromancer, was introduced with an impressive cinematic:

Who will be selected? In the blog post, Blizzard already mentioned that they want to invite players who have spent a lot of time in the endgame of Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 3, and Diablo Immortal.
The background is that endgame content of Diablo 4 is to be tested. Veterans could better assess what can be improved and where issues exist. One user reports on Reddit that his father received an invitation. He usually plays a lot of Immortal.
Others claim they haven’t played Immortal at all, but only played the ladder in Diablo 2: Resurrected or Diablo 3 for 2 weeks after the start of each new season. There was also the opportunity to get a tattoo for beta access.
Can you still apply? Registration for the beta was only possible until October 11. However, the real beta is supposed to start in 2023. You can already prepare your account for this:
- Log into your account settings in Battle.net.
- Open the “Privacy” option.
- Check the box for “News and offers from Battle.net”.
If you have checked this box, you will be notified when there are news about Blizzard games.
