The Pit is considered the ultimate challenge for your builds in Diablo 4. However, to push your limits in other areas as well, Blizzard is introducing a total of eight new torment levels with the second expansion “Lord of Hatred”.
Those who have reached the endgame of Diablo 4 will gradually unlock the previous four torment levels. These difficulty levels are present in all activities – from the Hell hordes to the Nightmare Dungeons.
What is The Pit all about?
- The Pit has its own system where you unlock higher levels through successful runs.
- This currently leads to many players spending weeks (or even months) almost exclusively in The Pit to test their builds and push their limits.
- For new items, they then farm the Hideout bosses that can drop uniques and even mythic uniques.
However, with the new expansion “Lord of Hatred,” a new challenge is set to come for those players by the end of April. Blizzard is expanding the torment levels to 12. This is intended to make other endgame activities challenging again. Many fans feel reminded of Diablo 3, as Diablo 4 will not only become harder, but also more colorful .
Strong builds should also be useful elsewhere
This is what Blizzard has specifically planned with the difficulty levels: In a YouTube interview with Diablo expert wudijo, Associate Game Director Zaven Haroutunian explained that The Pit currently overshadows everything else in the game. With the introduction of eight more torment levels (up to Torment 12), the remaining content is intended to become competitive again.
You should not only be hanging out in The Pit with your strongest builds. The power of your character should not just disappear in The Pit, but also be noticeable and needed in the Hell hordes or the Hell flood.
This also directly affects the rewards, which according to developers will also scale accordingly. And since no one wants to spend a lot of time sorting items, Blizzard is providing a loot filter with “Lord of Hatred.” However, this is not exclusive to DLC buyers, but for all players of the game. Already in the release month of June 2023 the Diablo expert wudijo requested a loot filter.
In addition, the expansion brings a new campaign, a new region, two new classes, and revisions for the skill trees of all classes. You can find all information about Lord of Hatred in our overview.
In Season 12, you will be able to increase your torment levels. Using “bloodstained seals” that drop from Torment 1, the difficulty of an activity can roughly be increased by one level. So you could theoretically play at Torment 5, even though this level doesn’t exist yet. wudijo explained in a YouTube video that Torment 5 is about ten times harder than Torment 4, making it extremely challenging.
At the same time, the activities will guarantee “bloodstained items” dropping through these seals that boost your killstreaks. This new feature rewards you in Season 12 for taking down as many monsters as possible in a short time.
