In Diablo 4, the new season has started, bringing not only new content to the game but also a fresh Battle Pass. However, players find that it somehow doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the Diablo series at all.
Season 4 in Diablo 4 started on May 14, 2024, and introduced new endgame content, which is well-received by a large part of the community. A fresh Battle Pass has also been available since the season started. The Pass allows you to earn rewards approximately every three months. There is a free and a paid path.
Even beforehand, the community often discussed the content of the Battle Pass. They were disappointed with the Battle Pass in Season 2 and called the cosmetic rewards “NPC armors.” And even now, players are complaining about the cosmetics. They feel that the gear looks as if it was intended for a completely different game.

Why does the Battle Pass confuse the players? On Reddit, the user “Throwedaway99837” posted an image from Season 4 in Diablo 4 on May 27. He asks in the post if anyone else is wondering what this graphic is about.
He elaborates on his thoughts:
This appeared recently on a loading screen and has confused me a lot. It looks like it was intended for a completely different game and does not fit the tone or aesthetic of the Diablo series at all.
The comment with the most upvotes is from “Mileena_Sai.” The user notes on Reddit that it is “terrible and doesn’t fit Diablo 4.” It is just meant to showcase the cosmetic items from the Pass.

What do other players say about this? Other players also seem to be confused about the design of the Battle Pass. Some write that it does not fit Diablo 4, and they miss the “darker art.” Others think the style resembles a “mobile game about elven wars” (via Reddit). One user writes on Reddit: “It reminds me of Mortal Kombat and that someone is about to receive a finisher.”
The user “Trick-Silver1652” writes on Reddit: “No joke, I played earlier and it was either this [image] or another in the same style, and for a second I thought I accidentally loaded Albion Online. Get this crap out of the game, this is not Diablo.”
The user “GrimJoshua” speculates on Reddit that the design might have been intended for another season. He writes:
“The whole pass/style is completely detached from the season. I am really confused why the Pass does not contain a hell/demon theme, given that the redesigned hell floods are at the center of attention. I can only guess that the Pass was meant to be used for another season.”
