At the curiosity vendor in Diablo 4, players can “gamble” for items of specific categories. One of them wanted to acquire gloves and ended up getting one of the best Mythic Uniques in its strongest variant.
The curiosity vendor is your go-to place in Diablo 4 once you have gathered enough Oboluses. You can “gamble” for items of specific categories with the Oboluses and thus improve your gear and builds. You collect the currency passively while leveling up your glyphs in the pit, for example.
A player spent 1,000 Oboluses at the “Gambler” to get new gloves. However, not only did they receive new gloves, but also a mythical headpiece in their inventory.
A Harlequin’s Crown with 4GA as a random drop
Which item did he receive? On Reddit, calvinowrld shows in a 26-second clip how he spends his Oboluses at the curiosity vendor and clicks on the glove category until his inventory is full. For 1,000 Oboluses, he gets:
- Several magical and rare gloves
- 8 legendary gloves
- 2 Unique gloves – one of which is an item in the empowered variant with a larger affix
- A Mythic Unique
The Mythic in question is the Harlequin’s Crown. This is a headgear that many players also refer to as “Shako”. All five classes can equip the Harlequin’s Crown, and it grants you +4 ranks to all your skills. Additionally, you receive increased damage and cooldown reduction.
The player was particularly lucky here because the mythical headpiece has four greater affixes (4GA) and is thus the best variant you can get of the Harlequin’s Crown. This specifically means that all four affixes are present in their strongest variant.
In the comments, various users discuss the luck that calvinowrld had. kanrad summarizes the drop as follows:
Generally, there is a low chance for a Mythic, and when gambling, the chance is even lower. Now you roll a slot where it normally doesn’t appear. Then you have a pool of random Mythics. Then the astronomical event happens that all of this comes together, and it’s a 4GA.
It’s like playing poker and winning with a checkmate. It’s so incredibly rare that you actually won a completely different game.
And Hollowregret suggests that the author of the post should basically give up any form of gambling or anything related to luck, like the lottery, for the rest of their life.

Does this happen often? In fact, several players have already reported that they have received Mythic Uniques at the curiosity vendor even while gambling for items of other categories. One player received the mythical chest piece “Tyrael’s Might” while trying to acquire boots.
It is worth trying your luck for Mythics at the curiosity vendor, especially if you always accumulate many Oboluses anyway. There is another chance for a mythical drop from the bosses you can defeat from Qual Level 1 onwards. You need specific materials to summon them.
Additionally, you can craft the coveted Mythic Uniques yourself – since Season 6, there are even two options for this. At the blacksmith, you get a random Mythic, while at the jeweler, you get a specific one. At first glance, the jeweler seems more beneficial, but you will need a ton of runes for crafting.
