Sorceresses and Druids are currently the weakest two classes in Diablo 4. Players have been saying since the release of Season 4: This can’t be right. And they were right. A bug has particularly affected Sorceresses and destroyed a Legendary that everyone uses.
This was broken:
- Blizzard identified a bug in the calculation of bonuses against vulnerable enemies. Vulnerable is one of the most important damage multipliers.
- Various skills and items were affected, including the Storm Swell Aspect of the Sorceress. This Legendary is used in all builds of the Tier List for Season 4.
- Blizzard has repeatedly claimed that everything here works as it should. Now it turns out: The effect was indeed broken.
This was fixed: In the latest hotfix, Blizzard fixed a bug where damage against vulnerable targets in boss fights was not calculated fully. This means that many classes dealt significantly less damage than intended.
Several skills, items, and glyphs of Barbarians, Sorceresses, Hunters, and Necromancers, as well as the base damage against vulnerable targets, were affected.
Players have been complaining since the start of the season that Sorceresses feel too weak, but community manager Adam Fletcher has repeatedly emphasized that everything works as it should.
The team has not been able to identify any irregularities. In a new post on Reddit, Fletcher now explains that the cause lay elsewhere entirely, and that they only arrived at the solution through a “trail of breadcrumbs”.
The hotfix from May 30 also fixes a problem with the Rapid Fire of Hunters and an issue with the masterworking that has not been functioning properly since patch 1.4.1.

“Just needs 50% more damage”
The fixes include two entries that mainly concern Sorceresses: The Storm Swell Aspect, which all builds use, as well as the Paragon ability “Frigid Fate,” which is present in almost all frost builds.
The bug fix thus represents a significant buff, but players still believe: It’s not enough. In the forum, for example, it is stated that Sorceresses simply need a buff of 50% on their damage and more health.
One player has a Sorceress and a Barbarian at endgame, and it feels like they’re playing a different game: “Sorc needs 50k more HP baseline with 50% damage reduction and 500% more damage.” Whether any buffs are coming remains unknown.
Despite some criticisms such as the broken Sorceresses or the annoying one-shot mechanics that are currently troubling fans, Season 4 is well received. Even in the comments under the hotfix, there is praise for the team.
To celebrate the anniversary of Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal, Blizzard is planning a new event in June. From June 6, you can collect gifts. Additionally, more treasure goblins will appear, and you can farm experience points and gold more easily.
