The action RPG Diablo 4 is set to release in summer 2023. We wanted to know from you which class you will start with in the game as soon as it is released. Here are your answers.
In just a few days it will be time: The beta for Diablo 4 is coming and will be playable first for pre-orderers and a week later for everyone.
Unlike previous Diablo games, in D4 you can create your own hero using a detailed character creator. There is no gender lock, so you have the freedom of choice.
We wanted to know which of the 5 announced classes of Diablo 4 you like the most so far. Here is the ranking of the most popular classes that has emerged based on your choice.

Rank 5: Sorceress

What kind of class is this? The Sorceress is a typical mage class, ruling over the elements of fire, ice, and lightning. It has been described by the developers as a “High Risk, High Reward” class. This means that while it can deal high damage, it can also go down quickly if you’re not careful.
The abilities of the Sorceress are divided in addition to the elements into:
- Minor Destruction – These skills consume no mana or even regenerate it while dealing lesser damage (Lightning, Frost Bolt, Fire Bolt)
- Major Destruction – The heavy damage skills that cost a lot of mana (Fireball, Ice Shards, Chain Lightning)
- Conjurations Skills – abilities that summon something – This can be a lightning spear that flies around the battlefield and deals damage or a fire hydra that acts as an auto-turret.
The unique class mechanic of the Sorceress is the Enchantment. Its abilities can either be used actively or socketed into the Enchantment slots. This turns them into passive effects that can influence other skills. In total, up to 3 abilities can be placed into the Enchantment slots.
Rank 4: Barbarian

What kind of class is this? Barbarians are physical melee fighters, as they are written in the book. They always fight on the front line, and their abilities reflect that. They use Fury as a resource for their abilities in battle.
It is generated by free basic skills and consumed by powerful Fury skills. But some defensive abilities of the Barbarian also require Fury, though not all of them.
The unique class mechanic of the Barbarian is the Arsenal. As masters of weapons, the class can equip up to 4 different weapons and fluidly switch between them in battle.
- Two-handed club weapon
- Two-handed blade weapon
- 2x one-handed weapons
The weapons are also automatically switched when they are required for certain skills. So you don’t have to worry about it. However, this has the “disadvantage” that skills cannot be performed without the respective required weapon. Therefore, it is important to always fill the 4 weapon slots accordingly.
Rank 3: Huntress

What kind of class is this? The Huntress is characterized mainly by her high mobility and her ability to switch between melee and ranged combat. She uses either daggers, swords, bows, or crossbows as weapons.
To annihilate her enemies, the Huntress uses traps and can imbue her weapons with various effects. These effects include, for example, poison, shadow, and ice, but there should be more. She can fluidly change these effects in combat and also confer them to her teammates.
The class-specific mechanic of the Huntress is the class specializations, which enhance her in battle. There are a total of 3 of them:
- Shadow Realm allows you to escape into the shadow world, where you are safe from enemies. However, you can drag enemies with you into this world to defeat them there.
- Combos allow you to build points by using basic skills. These are then consumed by other abilities to activate special effects.
- Exploit Weakness allows you to perform counterattacks that deal extra damage to enemies who are currently preparing a skill.
Only one of the 3 specializations can be active at a time, and they will play a role in the Huntress’s quests.

What kind of class is this? Druids are the guardians of nature in Sanctuary and use their power to extinguish the hordes of hell. The class can deal physical attacks and also cast spells. However, unlike the actual Sorceresses, Druids master the magic of wind and earth.
The class’s abilities cause tornadoes, windstorms, landslides, and earthquakes that devastate everything around you. You can also use the power of nature for defense, for example in the form of a wind shield or earth armor.
The connection with nature is also shown through the Druids’ companions. In battle, the Druids can be aided by wolves, ravens, and living plants. They themselves can also transform. A Druid can shred its opponents in the form of a bear.
The class mechanic of the Druid allows you to loot offerings from enemies and then sacrifice them to deities. If proper offerings are delivered, you will receive a lasting blessing from a deity, enjoying certain advantages as a result.
Rank 1: Necromancer

What kind of class is this? Necromancers are the guardians of the balance between life and death in Diablo. Accordingly, you will wield scythes as your weapons in battle and use dark magic that gives you power over the undead.
The Necromancer requires two different resources for their skills:
- Essence is the primary resource and refills slowly over time. Using certain abilities can speed up the process.
- Corpses, on the other hand, are generated when you slay enemies. They are needed to execute various skills. More corpses can also be generated with the ability Decompose.
In Diablo 4, you have the choice of whether you prefer to play as a summoner with your undead army or alone, but the special mechanic of the class is completely focused on customizing your minions.
With the Book of the Dead, you can decide how the skeleton warriors, skeleton mages, and the golem fight, whether they prefer to fight defensively or offensively, or even grant them their own specializations. In general, the Necromancer is currently considered the most versatile of the 5 starter classes of Diablo 4.
