The pre-order beta of Diablo 4 went offline again on March 20, leaving a positive impression on a large part of the fans. We have summarized the praise and criticism for you in this article.
These reactions exist: The beta of Diablo 4 was eagerly awaited and feared by the fans of the series alike. Many were rather skeptical about D4 before the beta.
After the end of the first beta test, the first positive voices about the game seem to be confirming. In forums and on social media, fans share their joy about the gameplay of Diablo 4 and comment that Blizzard might still have it. Here are some of them:
- “[…] Personally, I got the game I wanted. Call me a brown-noser […], but I’m just happy to play the game Blizzard made […]. Blizzard seems to be back in form” – DogSoggy441
- “To me, it’s almost a masterpiece. The aesthetics and the environment make me disappear into another world. It’s as if I were reading a book […]” – rarifiedAyr
- “The only thing that makes me sad this weekend is that we have to wait a whole 2 months until the real progression starts” – wegbored
The forums are currently full of threads with discussions about individual features and with suggestions for improvements to individual elements that could make the final game even better.
“I didn’t expect that from Blizzard”
This is how you voted: The test was mostly positively received by the fans on MeinMMO as well. With 48.34%, almost half of you found the beta either “very good” or “good”. The proportion of clearly negative voices was 7.11%.
- Very good: 25.54%
- Good: 22.8%
- Okay: 10, 29%
- Bad: 3.83%
- Not so good: 3.28%
34.26% of you have indicated that you have not been able to play the beta yet. This part of the community will hopefully get their chance next weekend. The second beta test starts on March 24, which is open to everyone.
In total, 2,743 readers participated in the survey at the time of evaluation.
This is what the MeinMMO readers say: In the comments under the live ticker and other articles, many of you shared your opinions about Diablo 4 with us. The “Diablo feeling” that reminds of the old parts was particularly positively noted. The dark atmosphere, the despair of the world, and the brutality would come across well again:
The game is already a lot of fun, finally something darker. Just the first part up to the capital was simply epic in terms of story. I didn’t expect that from Blizzard anymore. […]

[…] It’s fun. The story is dark and everywhere you can see the despair, the turning to cults, and the turning away from the light. It feels like a real Diablo. If the tone is maintained, I would be really pleased. Just the right cutscenes are qualitatively significantly better than in D3. I’m looking forward to the launch in June.

In your comments, the mobile offshoot Diablo Immortal was also mentioned as a negative example. After the game received massive criticism and was not very well received by many Diablo fans, a part of you was positively surprised by the D4 beta.
Diablo 4 would shine again with the classic gameplay known from earlier parts. Thanks to the events, many quests, and dungeons, you had enough content to tackle over the weekend.
[…] About the game itself: Simply grand, my expectations were at rock bottom after the Immortal debacle, didn’t even want to pre-order it, then I ended up doing so anyway. […]

I was very positively surprised by the massive quest content. Didn’t think that so much is already included in the beta. […]

“It feels like Lost Ark
There is still criticism. In your comments, especially the empty world was criticized, where you walk too much on foot in the beta. Some of you also found the dungeons too monotonous and lacking variety. The user interface was also not well received. There is still room for improvement, as your comments indicate.
[…] The dungeons are all the same, extremely boring, unimaginative events, always the same layouts, hardly anything to discover. Nothing that you would really remember. The same goes for the NPCs (someone else has already mentioned this here). Side quests are also really nothing special, to put it mildly. They could have been left out. […]

Another point of criticism had already been raised before the beta started and was further reinforced after the test. The new multiplayer aspect of Diablo 4, the Shared World, was not well received by many fans. At best, it offers no added value and is pointless, at worst, it ruins immersion and the gaming experience.
The loneliness and desolation of the earlier Diablo games do not come across well anymore when other characters are running around you. Due to new features like emotes or titles, comparisons were also made to the MMORPG Lost Ark.
The UI is a disaster. It looks like a bad D2 copy of a mobile game and the scaling of various menus feels the same. […] And the “MMO features” are, to put it mildly, completely unnecessary and add absolutely no value for me as a player.

Unfortunately, Diablo 4 feels like Lost Ark to me. Lost Ark, however, costs nothing. I don’t play Lost Ark anymore and have no interest in playing it again. Therefore, unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately, I have to pass.

This is what the fans say on GameStar and GamePro
This is how it was voted: Our sister sites GameStar and GamePro also asked their readers how they found the beta of Diablo 4. The answers largely correspond with yours.
While a large part of the people could not participate in the beta, those who played over the weekend mostly voted positively.
For the second beta test, we will also start a survey on all sites to capture the voices of fans who could not participate in the first test. Of course, it may also be that some of you change your opinion after the second weekend.
Until then, continue to share your impressions of Diablo 4 with us, both positive and negative. We are looking forward to what you have to say.
