In Diablo 4 there are certain items that can only be found rarely. Two of these items have so far been discovered by only a few players, which has led to discussions in the community.
While we were flooded with loot in the early betas of Diablo 4, the drop rate was reduced during the server slam. This has been maintained since the game’s release, as legendays are received regularly – unique items, however, are harder to find.
And two of them have hardly been obtained by any players so far. Under a tweet from community lead Adam Fletcher, the existence of the items is even questioned (via Twitter).
Update from June 11: One of the items has finally been found, Fletcher has personally confirmed its authenticity.
The grind for special loot is part of the endgame of Diablo 4. Here you get an insight:
“Harlequin Crest” and “Grandfather”
What’s the deal with the “Uniques”? These unique items (“Uniques”) resemble the legendary items (“Legendarys”). They have special properties like legendaries, which cannot be transferred to other items.
One of the uniques is the helmet “Harlequin Crest”, which was very powerful in Diablo 2 and is referred to as “Shako” by the community. The coveted helmet gives you 4 ranks for each ability. Additionally, it increases your health by 1,000 points, grants you damage reduction, and reduces cooldowns.
The second rare item that hardly any player has found so far is the “Grandfather.” It is a two-handed sword that gives you a boost to your health, your damage, and your abilities (via Ginx).

How do you get the items? You receive them when you defeat certain bosses in Diablo 4 at World Tier 3. However, this is only possible from level 50, and you also need to complete a specific dungeon to increase the world tier.
At the beginning of Diablo, it actually makes sense to set the world tier to 1.
The fact that both special items have so far been found by hardly anyone is causing discussions on social media.
“Some people’s patience has run out”
On the Subreddit of Diablo 4, u/Then-Lock-5964 notes: “People who complain about low drop rates for rare uniques will kill the game” and adds a comparison with farming items in Diablo 2:
If the developers listen to them and increase the drop rates for items like Grandfather and Shako (Harlequin Crest), the D2 aspect of farming for cool items will be destroyed, and people who want to spend more hours in the game will have no further incentives to keep playing.
There’s a reason why D2 lasted so long; a big part of that was the extremely rare items. Please understand, it’s okay if you as a player do NOT get EVERY SINGLE ITEM in the game on a silver platter. Damn it!

The post is from June 9 and already has 4,700 upvotes and 1,700 comments.
The user Dreadsock responds with: “LMAO (Laughing My Ass Off) about crying over increased drop rates less than a week after the official start.” and receives over 2000 upvotes for it. Many seem to share his opinion.
pp21 feels that “the patience and attention spans of many people are simply completely exhausted. Some people want instant gratification without having to grind through Diablo.” – 754 people agree with him through upvotes.
Others note that the comparison with looting in Diablo 2 is flawed. There, they had to put in hundreds of hours to even obtain valuable items, while here according to Gravijah, “some version of every item needed for the character, including uniques” has been acquired.
“The main difference is that in D2 I could trade a great unique for what I actually wanted. Here is a unique you don’t want, almost worthless. But yes, I agree that complaining so soon after launch is kind of silly,” adds Commercial_Juice_201 in the subreddit.
Most seem to agree that looting in Diablo 4 is good as it is and should not be changed.
MyMMO editor Maik Schneider was able to particularly convince a special loot feature.
