What happens in Diablo 3? On Friday, April 2, 2021, Season 23 in Diablo 3 starts. This comes with the big Patch 2.7.0, which significantly alters gameplay. Now players wonder which class they should play in the new season – after all, there are seven to choose from.

What you need to know for class selection in Season 23
The starter sets: Many players base their choice on which starter sets the classes come with. Because at the start of a season, you can earn a set by completing minor tasks.
In Season 23, the distribution of starter sets is as follows (via diablo3.com):
- Monk – Garb of the Thousand Storms
- Demon Hunter – Unholy Essence
- Crusader – Roland’s Legacy
- Wizard – Tal Rasha’s Elements
- Barbarian – Wrath of the Wastes
- Witch Doctor – Helltooth Harness
- Necromancer – Rathmas Bones
Balance changes: On the test servers of Diablo 3, players have been diligently testing the new Patch 2.7.0. Due to feedback from testers, a few balance changes have been made. Especially for the Necromancer and Wizard, there have been significant adjustments. You can find the patch notes for Patch 2.7.0 in Diablo 3 here.
Important for solo players: Those who limited their class choice based on how solo-capable it is can try a lot in the new season. Because Patch 2.7.0 revamps the companions, making Diablo 3 much more attractive for solo players starting with Season 23. With the improved companions, many new builds can be played since you can simply equip part of the gear to the Templar, the Rogue, or the Enchantress.
