For Diablo 3, Patch 2.7.1 will soon be on the test servers. This is the update with which you will play Season 24. It brings back Ethereal weapons from Diablo 2. What they are and how powerful they will be, we will show you in the patch notes.
What’s new? The patch notes for Patch 2.7.1 have now been published on the Diablo 3 blog. It’s the update that is in preparation for Season 24, which currently has no start date. The seasonal theme is also presented, which aims to impress with Ethereal weapons. Diablo veterans already know these items from Diablo 2.
Here we show you an overview of all changes for Season 24, which will soon be tested on the test servers.
Ethereal Weapons in Diablo 3 – How does it work?
This is what the developers say: In the blog post, the team writes that they want to honor the legacy of Diablo 2 with Ethereal weapons. In the season, the Ethereals (the Ethereal weapons) are rare and powerful weapons.
The seasonal theme: Season 24 introduces Ethereal weapons, a new weapon type that players can obtain during the upcoming seasonal journey. Ethereal weapons will have a powerful set of affixes, a legendary power of a class weapon, and a random passive ability of a class. Ethereals will have unique icons, names, item types, and sounds that were originally found in Diablo II.
Here’s what you need to know about Ethereal weapons:
- Ethereals are bound to your account
- They only drop from monsters, from chests, and from destructible objects
- You do not need to have reached level 70 to obtain them
- The rarity of the Ethereals lies between ancient items and primal items
- There are 3 Ethereals per class – Each Ethereal weapon has fixed affixes and receives a random legendary weapon bonus and a random passive ability of the class
- The Ethereals are limited, you can only equip one at a time
- The Ethereal weapons ignore durability loss
- Legendary powers and passive abilities rolled on the weapons do not stack with the same powers and abilities when equipped in Kanai’s Cube, with other items, or skills
- Ethereal weapons cannot be enchanted, transmogged, dyed, re-forged, or traded
- You can upgrade them in Kanai’s Cube with gems, as you already know from ancient items
- If you collect all 21 Ethereals in Season 24, you will be rewarded with “Feat of Strength, Ethereal Recollection”. This gives you the Ethereals as a transmog option in future seasons and outside of seasons
- The Ethereal weapons only drop in seasonal play and cannot be equipped on non-seasonal characters
These weapons have the potential to become really strong in Season 24. With the legendary powers and passive abilities on them, you can develop really strong characters with some luck.
Changes for Monk, Wizard, and Necromancer in Season 24
What else is changing? Diablo is making changes to two classes. The Wizard is getting only a few changes, while the Monk is undergoing more.
Classes:
- Wizard: The number of active mirror images is now displayed on the screen.
- Monk: Mystic Ally (Fire Ally) now splits into 2 instead of 5 allies. But now all Fire Allies can split. The radius of the damage is slightly increased and the damage is increased from 480% to 1920% weapon damage.
- Earth Ally: Damage increased from 380% to 4500% weapon damage.
Items: The Inna set has been adjusted and buffed. In exchange, the Crusader’s Valor set and the Masks of the Burning Carnival have received nerfs from the Necromancer.
- Inna’s Mantra: 4-piece bonus – You gain the base effects of all four mantras simultaneously. You gain 5% damage reduction for each Mystic Ally by your side. Your Mystic Allies take no damage.
- Inna’s Mantra: 6-piece bonus – You permanently gain all passive abilities of the 5 Mystic Allies. Attacking enemies causes your selected Mystic Ally to spawn, which remains active for 15 seconds. Up to 10 allies are possible. The damage of your Mystic Allies is increased by 950% per summoned Mystic Ally.
- The Crudest Boots: ‘Mystic Ally’ summons two Mystic Allies who fight by your side. They deal [300% to 400%] increased damage.
- Bindings of the Lesser Gods: Enemies hit by your skill ‘Cyclone Strike’ take [300% to 400%] increased damage from your Mystic Ally for 5 seconds. Shared Fire Allies receive this bonus five times.
- Crown of Valor 2-piece bonus: Attacks with ‘Heavenly Fist’ cause ‘Heavenly Fury’ to deal 125% more damage for 5 seconds. This effect is stackable up to 3 times.
- Mask of the Burning Carnival 6-piece bonus: ‘Bone Spears’ from you or your Simulacrums deal 6000% more damage
