The new patch 2.6.5 brings huge changes to Season 17 in Diablo 3. The game will receive additional torment levels and more stash slots. Additionally, the seasonal theme for Season 17 seems to be set.
When is Patch 2.6.5 coming? On Friday, April 5th, Patch 2.6.5 will go live on the PTR servers of Diablo 3. The patch will be active for testing for one week.
If the developers are satisfied with the tests, the update will be released on the live servers before the start of Season 17 .
This is how Diablo changes in Season 17
The update promises significant changes that haven’t been seen in Diablo 3 for a long time. Recently, Patch 2.6.4 changed some class sets, but Patch 2.6.5 is now targeting many general features that will affect every player.
The enhancement effect for Season 17: As long as no set bonus is active, each equipped ancient item increases the damage dealt by players by 750% and decreases the damage taken by 4%.
The new seasonal theme is based on the wishes of the community. They found the bonus around the Ring of Royal Grandeur in Season 16 so good that they wished for the same with Legacy of Nightmares. And Blizzard is fulfilling this request.
There are new torment levels: It has been a while since Diablo 3 added new torment levels to the game. The jump from torment 10 to torment 13 occurred with Patch 2.4.2, which was during Season 7 in the summer of 2016. For Season 17, new difficulty levels are being added again. Torment 14, Torment 15, and Torment 16 will be introduced.
This is how treasure goblins are changing: Treasure goblins leave portals in Diablo 3 that can lead to the treasure chamber. In Season 17, the portals are said to lead you “sometimes to absolutely crazy places.” Blizzard did not elaborate further. Could it perhaps go to the cow level?
New portals through special Ring of Royal Grandeur: If you use an ancient or arcane Ring of Royal Grandeur in Kanai’s Cube, it now leads to a new result. What exactly happens is still unclear. However, Blizzard says that it should be more rewarding for players to use such valuable rings.
More space in the stash: All players will receive additional stash slots. On PC, there will be a search function for the stash.
- PC players receive 5 additional stash slots
- PS4/Xbox One/Switch players receive 140 additional stash slots

This is how bounties are changing: The targets of most bounties will now be displayed directly upon entering the bounty area. Horadric caches can now contain Death’s Breath.
