Our author Patrick Freese is not lacking motivation for Season 20 in Diablo 3. He has the clear goal of getting this bat pet
What is happening in Diablo 3? On Friday, March 13th, Diablo 3 launched into its new Season 20. For those participating, it starts fresh and without aids at level 1. This is the program that D3 has been offering for years now. No one is expecting new addons anymore. Every few months, a new season starts, along with some balance changes, and that’s it. The last major new content was the Necromancer DLC in 2017.
Lack of new content has often been the reason why my motivation waned in the seasons. I am the typical player who intensively plays a new season for a week, spends some evenings in Greater Nephalem Rifts during the second week, and then gradually drifts away from the game.
But sometimes, the urge to slay monsters grabs me – and now in Season 20, a bat is to blame.
What kind of bat is this?
This is how it looks: A skull belt with fangs, a rag of linen draped over its head, and huge wings. This is not the description of my deadly barbarian, but that of the new bat companion.
This cool pet and a portrait frame are the main goals of Season 20 in Diablo 3.
Whoever successfully completes the entire seasonal journey in Season 20 can claim this cool companion. And I will be among those players!
Because let’s be honest: Some companions in Diablo 3 are really lame. The two horses, Unihorn and Piers Dream look particularly similar, just like the two floating skulls. The Korcalf has to be unlocked, but it doesn’t look that cool either.
So a new pet like the bat comes just right. Visually, this cool bat pet absolutely appeals to me.
This is my plan
In the coming days and weeks, I will focus on completing the seasonal journey. Finally, I have a goal in Diablo 3 that keeps me engaged during a season. In S19 it was still the cool seasonal theme, that pushed me into the highest Greater Rifts.
This time it’s a cool pet.
