At the beginning of Season 7 of Diablo 3, many players are wondering which class is the best.
The new season in Diablo 3 resets everything back to 0. If you want to play the season, you need to create a new seasonal character, which you have to level up from level 1. However, since some things in Diablo 3 change with each season, the question arises as to which class can collect experience points easiest and fastest.
Leveling with Dots gives a lot of experience
As the “best class”, one can choose a class at the beginning of a season that can level up quickly. By reaching a higher level, you automatically get better items in Diablo 3 that allow you to take down enemies even faster. This brings you experience points even faster, thus closing the loop. Therefore, we are looking for the best class to level up effectively. This applies both to the level range of 1-70 as well as to the subsequent Paragon levels.
When leveling up, you should always pay attention to maintaining the massacre bonus, as this now provides strong bonus experience points. In our Power Level Guide for Season 6, we already mentioned that the massacre bonus can make a significant difference when leveling up. If you choose a class like the Witch Doctor for leveling, which can easily spread its dots, you have advantages with this bonus. As long as you continuously deal damage to an enemy affected by a dot, the massacre bonus stays active and does not expire. This way, you can increase the bonus, while classes without dots have significantly more problems.
Monks and Witch Doctors dominate the rankings
On the PTR servers, players have been able to try out the current patch 2.4.2 for some time in Diablo. It was also tested how the individual classes perform in the rankings. In the solo mode, the Barbarian reached Greater Nephalem Rifts of level 80. Witch Doctors and Monks sometimes reached Greater Nephalem Rifts above level 90. However, these values will change in the coming days and weeks.
Our colleagues at Gamestar made an interesting video about this topic, explaining what makes the Witch Doctor so strong in the new season.
Recently, in group games in the higher Nephalem Rifts on the PTR servers, there was still at least 1 Witch Doctor in the group; now there are 2 or more Monks who feel “at home” in the current meta. This is partly because this class has received a good starter set as a “gift”. As you may know, you receive Haedrig’s Gift by completing the various season journeys. These gifts contain individual pieces for a set of your class. Once you have completed all season journeys, the set is complete.
Monks and Witch Doctors already receive a strong set here and can use these gifts to increase the difficulty of the game right away. You can find the various rewards from Haedrig’s Gift and what you need to do for them here. In the coming days and weeks, much will be tested regarding the sets to make the best out of the new season. So keep an eye on your class’s ranking to see which items are beneficial in the Greater Nephalem Rifts.
In the patch notes, you can see what changes have been made to classes and items that will provide a fresh breeze.
What defines the “best class”?
To define a specific class as the “best”, many factors come into play. Personal taste is one of the most important points. Because even if class X gets through the Nephalem Rifts faster than class Y, it doesn’t help you if you’re not having fun. Additionally, you have to like the play style. If you prefer to have pets work for you instead of casting spells, then you should perhaps put the Wizard aside and play a Witch Doctor instead.
As mentioned above, you have good results when leveling up if you have classes that can make a lot out of a massacre bonus. But in this area, there is now much choice, so we ask you:
Which class is the best for you in the new season and what makes it better than the other classes?
Maybe you have a few tips that you’d like to share with other readers in the comments about why class X should definitely be given a chance.
