Today marks the start of Season 31 in Diablo 3 and fittingly, there is a well-known season theme, rewards, and the patch notes. We provide an overview of all the details.
When does Season 31 start? On April 12, 2024, at 5:00 PM German time, Season 31 begins in Diablo 3. The season theme is called “Forbidden Archives” and expands the categories of Kanai’s Cube.
The season theme “Forbidden Archives” first appeared in Season 20. We will show you how the theme works and what to expect in our overview.
Overview of Season 31
This is the season theme: In the “Season of Forbidden Archives,” you will devote yourself to the power that the equally celebrated and reviled Horadrim Zoltun Kull could place in your hands if his experiments are not curtailed.
During Season 31, the slots in Kanai’s Cube, which allow you to utilize three additional legendary properties, are not limited to their usual categories. Normally, you can equip one property from the categories of weapon, armor, and jewelry.
But in Season 31, it is possible to combine all three and experiment with them. For example, you could combine two weapon properties with one armor property.
Cosmetic rewards: In Season 31, rewards that you originally received in Season 7 return. Additionally, those who complete the entire season journey will receive two cosmetic rewards – the portrait frame “Valor” and the companion “Celestial Goblin.”
We will show you what the contents look like in the following graphics:

Starter Sets: As you know from the seasons in Diablo 3, you will earn Haedrig’s Gifts by completing chapters 2, 3, and 4. If you open them all with the same character, you will receive a complete set. The set you can earn with the classes changes each season.
This time, the following selection is available:
- Barbarian: Wrath of the Wastes
- Crusader: Roland’s Legacy
- Demon Hunter: Unholy Essence
- Monk: Raiment of a Thousand Storms
- Necromancer: Rathma’s Bones
- Witch Doctor: Helltooth Harness
- Wizard: Tal Rasha’s Elements
Patch 2.7.7 | Game Updates
Below, we list the patch notes, which are quite short this time, in contrast to the patch notes for the previous Season 30.
- KR age restriction
- Updated logos for age restrictions in KR from 18 years to 19 years.
- Additional progress orbs as loot from the Sin’s Mark soul shard now work for challenge portals.
- Additional progress orbs as loot from the Sin’s Mark soul shard and the Knot of the Scythe of the Altar of Rites can now only be looted from monsters in Nephalem Rifts, Greater Nephalem Rifts, and challenge portals.
This is the second season where Blizzard is rehashing content from previous seasons. There will be no new themes anymore: Blizzard has confirmed that Season 29 will be the last season to bring new contents for Diablo 3 and shows how things will proceed after that.
