The start of Season 30 in Diablo 3 is just around the corner. In line with this, there are patch notes with balance changes and a familiar seasonal theme. We show you all the details in the overview.
When does Season 30 start? On January 12, 2024, at 5:00 PM German time, Season 30 in Diablo 3 begins. The seasonal theme is “the rulers of hell” and brings the soul shards and essences of these rulers back into the game.
These contents were already present in Season 25 and were well-received by the community. We show you how the theme works and what else to expect here.
Season 30 Overview
The seasonal theme: During the season, you will find soul shards and sparks from the hell forge. You can equip large shards in headgear and small shards in weapons. With the sparks from the hell forge, the shards can be upgraded three times. With the shards, you unlock very strong bonuses, but there are restrictions:
- You can only equip one soul shard of the greater evils
- and one soul shard of the lesser evils

Cosmetic rewards: You can look forward to a chest protection and gloves from the exclusive Conqueror set. Additionally, you can unlock various portrait frames adorned with blood shards. In line with this, you can receive the All Saints’ flag. We show you how the contents look in this graphic:
Starter sets: As you know from the seasons in Diablo 3, you can earn Haedrig’s gifts by completing chapters 2, 3, and 4. If you open all with the same character, you receive a complete set. The set you can earn with the classes changes each season. This time there is the following selection:
- Barbarian: The Legacy of Raekor
- Crusader: Akkhan’s Armor
- Demon Hunter: Marauder’s Gear
- Monk: Inna’s Mantra
- Necromancer: Pestilence’s Garb
- Witch Doctor: Zunimassa’s Grasp
- Wizard: Delseres Opus Magnum
This is the first season where Blizzard is reintroducing content from previous seasons. There will be no new themes. Blizzard confirmed that with Season 29, the last new content for Diablo 3 will come and shows how it will continue after that.
Nevertheless, D3 is intended to be kept alive and will rotate its content regularly.
