When is the start time? Today, on July 23 at 5:00 PM, Season 24 opens its gates in Diablo 3. On consoles, you will probably have to wait longer for the start. From past seasons, we know that the starts were usually activated around 2:00 AM on Saturday morning on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
What happens there? In a new season, all participants start from “zero”. A major race begins to quickly reach the max level (70), farm your equipment, and obtain more gear at the high levels of Greater Nephalem Rifts. A season usually lasts about 3 months. We will show you what Season 24 brings to Diablo 3 with Patch 2.7.1.
Season theme of Season 24 – Ethereal Weapons
What is that? The new season theme provides you with powerful weapons. If you have played Diablo 2, you might remember the ethereal weapons. Blizzard considered to revive these nostalgic weapons in Diablo 3 on the occasion of the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected.

- You can find 3 ethereal weapons per class
- The ethereal items are rare and powerful
The special thing about ethereal items is that they have powerful affixes, a random legendary property for class weapons, and a passive class ability. In addition, there are exclusive symbols, names, types, and sounds that you know from Diablo 2.
That’s why it’s worth searching: If you collect all 21 ethereal items during Season 24, you will unlock the hero feat “Ethereal Memory” for your profile. This allows you to use the ethereal transmog options for all your seasonal and non-seasonal characters in the future.
Where do ethereal weapons drop? From monsters, from chests, and from destructible objects
Are there ethereal weapons from Kadala or in Kanai’s Cube? No.
Do I need to be level 70 to find ethereal weapons? No.
How rare are the ethereal weapons? The rarity is said to be between ancient and primal items.
Can I equip multiple ethereal items? No. You can only equip one at a time.
Do the weapons break? No, ethereal weapons do not lose durability.
Are the properties and skills stackable? No, you can’t stack the properties and class abilities of the weapons with the same properties and skills from Kanai’s Cube, items, or skills.
Can I customize ethereal weapons? They cannot be enchanted, dyed, reforged, traded, or transmogged.
Are there ethereal weapons outside of the season? No, they only drop for seasonal characters in S24 and will not transfer to your non-seasonal character after the season.

How do you get the sets? You already know this from other seasons: You can easily earn a complete set through the season journey. For completing stages 2, 3, and 4 of the season journey, you will receive one of Haedrig’s gifts, which you can keep unopened in your inventory. The contents will be adjusted to the class that opens the gifts. If you want a complete class set as a gift, you have to open all packages from Haedrig with the same character.
Cosmetic Rewards in Season 24
Since Season 17, you can earn a few cosmetic items from past seasons and a few new cosmetic items each season.

Achievements in Season 24
These can be accomplished: You need to complete achievements if you want to finish the season journey completely. The available achievements change from season to season. In Season 24, they are [normal / Hardcore]:

Patch Notes for Update 2.7.1
What’s included? In the latest patch for Diablo 3, a lot has changed for the Monk. We will show you the changes to items and skills that are now relevant (via diablo3.com):
Monk – Skills:
- The Fire Ally now splits into 2 allies (previously 5), but now all Fire Allies can split. Additionally, the area of effect and damage has been increased from 480% to 1,920%.
- The AI of the Fire Ally has been improved, making it more reliable in exploding.
- The damage of the Earth Ally has been increased from 380% to 4,500%.
- Grip Strike: Spirit consumer abilities that teleport you while Revelation is active also affect a nearby target without consuming additional spirit and deal 350–450% more damage.
Sorceress – Skills:
- You can now see how many mirrors are currently active on the Mirror Image icon.
Items:
- Inna’s Mantra (4-piece set): You gain the base effects of all four mantras simultaneously. Each active Mystic Ally reduces your damage taken by 5%. In addition, your Mystic Allies no longer take damage.
- Inna’s Mantra (6-piece set): You now always have the passive skills of all Mystic Allies. Your attacks create your chosen Mystic Ally, which remains active for 15 seconds until you have a maximum of 10 Mystic Allies. Each Mystic Ally increases the damage of your Mystic Allies by 3,000%.
- The Grotesque Boots: The ability “Mystic Ally” summons two Mystic Allies that fight by your side. They deal 150–200% more damage and can attack longer while in active form.
- Bindings of the Lower Gods: Enemies hit by your Cyclone Strike ability suffer 150% to 200% more damage from your Mystic Ally for 5 seconds. Split Fire Allies receive five times the bonus.
- Aegis of Courage (2-piece set): Attacks with Hands of Heaven cause Heaven’s Fury to deal 125% more damage for 5 seconds. This can stack up to 3 times.
- Masquerade of Burning Carnival (6-piece set): Your Simulacrums and you deal 6,000% more damage with Bone Spear.
End of Season 24
When could Season 24 end? Since a season is supposed to last about 3 months, we expect Season 24 to end in the last week of October. But so far, that is just speculation. A few weeks before the official end, Blizzard will announce the end date officially.
