Season 20 of Diablo 3 has become more attractive for many players, as another buff is now active. This brings you more goblins – but there is a catch.
What is this buff? Surprisingly, Blizzard activated a goblin buff on Friday evening, April 17, for the currently running Season 20 of Diablo 3. The season has been active for a month.
The buff ensures that the spawns of treasure goblins will be doubled until the end of Season 20. So if you find a treasure goblin, there will be another treasure goblin right next to it. This results in more loot, but also chaos if both disappear in different directions.
What does the goblin buff look like?
Here are the details: There are a few more things you need to consider regarding the goblin buff. The menagerist goblins can, as players prove with videos (via reddit), appear double. This is good for you because you will get two companions in one encounter.
However, there is a catch, as not all types of goblins are affected by the buff. Blizzard explains:
- Goblins from bandit shrines, goblin “rift” groups, or the goblins in the realm of treasures are not affected
- If you encounter a double spawn of rainbow goblins, both Whimsydale portals lead to the same dungeon
- The goblins of the “Unbearable Scoundrel” type are intentionally excluded from the goblin buff
Is it worth it for you?
Here’s why it is worth it: If you turned your back on Season 20 a few days ago but actually enjoy playing Diablo 3, it is worth taking another look at Season 20. This way, you can now farm materials or companions more easily due to the increased goblin spawns.
Here’s why it is not worth it: If you found the season theme of Season 20 too boring, the goblin buff won’t change much. Players have already expressed wishes to double the material drops as well. If Blizzard were to consider this request, the season could also become exciting for you again.
