Season 21 is currently ongoing in Blizzard’s hack and slash Diablo 3. However, there is now a change that has sparked heated discussions in the community.
What did Blizzard announce? In the official forum of the action RPG Diablo 3, community manager FilthieRich stated that all bounties earned during the season will now be doubled. This means you will receive more Horadric chests when you complete bounty hunts in the acts. Instead of one chest, you will now receive two.
The bonus benefits from the difficulty level. It is essentially as if you had completed double the amount of bounties. The rewards in the Horadric chests are otherwise the same. The drop rates or the quantity of individual rewards have not changed.
The bonus chests from the rifts are not affected by this.
Additionally, Blizzard stated that the current Season 21 will last longer than usual. This also means that the times for the public test realm (PTR) will be extended accordingly. Blizzard hopes to receive more feedback from players this way and have more time for changes and adjustments.

What is the background for the bonuses? Rewards are always a good motivation to play. In Diablo 3, a significant part of the game is about collecting a lot of loot to obtain special and powerful items. When there are more rewards, the chance of finding such items is also higher. This should lead players to play Diablo 3 more intensively to complete sets, for example.
Additionally, the theme of Season 21 is somewhat annoying. Maybe the bonus can help alleviate this.

- BarbarianFTW cannot understand the criticism: “Double bounties are never, I mean NEVER, a bad thing. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, wants to take advantage of that. Including me. Doing something like this is better than doing nothing at all. Thanks, Blizz, for at least doing something. Again, I will make the most of it.”
- ISoPaB criticizes that the current season is already so generous: “Honestly, I’m not satisfied with that. The season is already way too advantageous. Sure, players need to be motivated to play the season, I understand that. But when you add double bounties halfway through the season, and that only for seasonal players… it adds another layer of advantages – not only for group play but especially for the season. Not good, really disappointing.”
