What kind of guide is this? Here we introduce you to how you can quickly reach level 70 with your fresh seasonal character in Season 27 of Diablo 3. The guide is aimed at experienced players and not beginners.
If you are playing Diablo 3 for the first time, enjoy the leveling experience and stay a while to listen.
Leveling fast in Season 27, how does it work?
What you need to know: Nothing has changed in Diablo 3 regarding the leveling process recently. In previous seasons, we at MeinMMO experienced that leveling in connection with a Challenge Portal is a lot of fun and particularly effective. You unlock Kanai’s Cube early on and secure important rewards.
We present here in the guide the leveling method with and without the Challenge Rift. This way you can decide for yourself which method you want to use to play at level 70. If you don’t feel like the Challenge Rift this week or have already completed it, simply skip the next section and read on afterward.

Optional: Starting with Challenge Portal
Here’s how to start: After starting Season 27 in Diablo 3, you create a seasonal hero. You do this by checking the box at the green leaf in the bottom left corner when creating. Enter the game with this character and then immediately leave back to the main menu.
Now go to the game settings and click the option for the Challenge Portal on the left side. It is very important that you have selected your seasonal hero before starting the Challenge Rift and go into the game for a short while.
Note: This only works if you have already completed a Greater Nephalem Portal in Diablo 3. If you haven’t done that with your account yet, you can skip this step.
Why is it worth it? If you successfully complete the Challenge Rift (which is usually not a problem), you will receive important rewards for it. These are:
- Bounty materials (15 each)
- 35 Breaths of the Dying
- 475 Blood Shards
- Crafting materials
- and 4.6 million gold
What’s next: After completing the portal, you need to collect your rewards in the game:
- Go back to the Diablo 3 menu
- Select the “Adventure Mode” in the game mode selection with the “Master” difficulty and start the game
- Open the pouch with the Challenge Rift rewards in the game – You will see the symbol for that in the interface
- Now grab the weapon of the Templar or another companion and equip it
- Optional: Now complete a boss bounty. Maghda, Zoltun Kull, Belial, or the Skeleton King are particularly suitable for this. If one of these bosses has a bounty, you should complete it. There are powerful items waiting for you
- After that, look for Kanai’s Cube in Act 3 – We have a guide for you, where you can find Kanai’s Cube in Diablo 3 and what you can do with it. The cube is essential to convert the rewards from the Challenge Portal
Legendary Item right at the start of Season 27
After unlocking Kanai’s Cube, go back to the city and to the blacksmith. With your rewards from the Challenge Rift, you will now upgrade him completely. Now craft a yellow armor or weapon for level 70. Whether it’s armor or weapon depends on your class as you can see in the table.
The table shows you which yellow items for level 70 might be worth it at the blacksmith. The idea behind this is to upgrade these items to legendary items and extract their legendary power in Kanai’s Cube. This way, you have a passive legendary property right at the beginning of the season that helps you with leveling.

Depending on your chosen class, there are certain items at level 1 that you can exchange at Kadala in the city. You received Blood Shards from the reward pouch. You can find out which items drop for you at which level on D3planner.com.
Leveling fast from 1 to 70 (even without Rift)
Once you have extracted a strong legendary property, the leveling begins now. This is where players who start without Challenge Rift also get in.
The most important things you need to know about Season 27 in Diablo 3, explained briefly.
Level 1 to 24
This is how you start: Depending on your personal taste, decide if you want to try farming with massacre bonuses or completing Nephalem portals. If you level up with massacre bonuses, the areas of the Halls of Agony at levels 1 to 3 are suitable. However, it takes some practice until you farm efficiently with massacre bonuses.
Solo players should progress quickly with massacre bonuses. Group players can do this until level 30, but should then switch to normal Nephalem portals, as it usually goes quickly as a group.
You will then level up in this way until level 24 or 30. Keep in mind that:
- You should visit the blacksmith every 8 to 10 levels and try to craft a stronger weapon
- You should regularly visit the merchant in the city and look for amulets and rings that offer “+ damage” – In the leveling phase, those are really strong
- You should equip a headpiece with a socket to insert a red gemstone for more XP – Red gemstones are good for dealing more damage during the leveling phase.
Level 24 to 40
Nephalem portals are now worth it for you. You should pay attention that
- you can complete the portals quickly – Adjust the difficulty for that
- you communicate when playing in groups. During the fight against the Rift Boss, one player may teleport to the city and complete the portal right after the boss is defeated. After that, you have 30 seconds to collect the boss’s loot. This way, you save some time again.
Level 40 to 70
Once you reach level 40, teleport to the city and visit your mystic. Fully upgrade her – You have the materials for that.
- After that, go to the blacksmith and craft a yellow 2H weapon for level 70
- Repeat this until one of the crafted weapons has a % affix (% chance to freeze, % chance to stun, etc.)
- Once you have crafted such a weapon, go to the mystic and roll the other secondary bonus (not the % affix). Your goal is to get a level reduction. Best around 30 levels because then you can equip the weapon right away. If your materials run out, roll as close as possible to 30
- Level up in Nephalem portals until you reach the level to wear the weapon
- Once you can wear the weapon, you can easily play on Torment 6. If that is too hard, adjust down one level at a time
- You have high damage from the weapon and should progress well with that
Leveling to 70: Until reaching max level, continue with Nephalem portals. This works even if you are not wearing a 70 weapon yet. Grind here until level 70.
Level 70 reached – what now?
This is how you proceed: After reaching max level, Season 27 in Diablo 3 really begins for you. If you want to progress quickly, it’s best to complete the first four chapters of the seasonal journey (accessible on PC via Shift+J) and secure a starter set.
You receive the starter set through Haedrig’s Gift. Once you have completed that, you can comfortably play at high torment levels and quickly gear up.
