In this guide, we show you how to level up quickly in Season 19 of Diablo 3 . We explain the individual steps of leveling and why a Challenge Rift is worth it.
What is this guide about? At the start of a new season in Diablo 3, many players want to quickly get through leveling, collect Haedrig’s gifts, and then quickly get started with large Nephalem Rifts. To reach level 70 quickly, we have some tips for you to level effectively.
This guide is aimed less at beginners who are playing Diablo 3 for the first time but more at experienced players and returning players who have already gathered some hours in D3.
Leveling Quickly in Season 19 of Diablo 3
Since the last seasons, the leveling process in Diablo 3 has hardly changed. You will receive assistance from the Pandemonium buff, which increases your movement speed and damage. Additionally, killstreaks provide strong rewards on the battlefield. We show you how the seasonal theme works in Season 19 here.
The Start with Challenge Portal
First, create a character with the class you want to play. Make sure to check the box for “Seasonal” when creating, so you participate in S19 with this character. If you haven’t chosen a class yet, ask the Wheel of Destiny here.
Enter the game and then immediately go back to the menu. Now start the Challenge Portal and complete it. Note: This only works if you have already completed a Greater Nephalem Rift in Diablo 3. If you haven’t done this yet, skip this step.
The Challenge Portal is good for receiving the reward (bounty materials, Essence of Death, and gold). The leveling process begins after the portal.
- Start a new game in Adventure Mode at the Master difficulty level
- Now open your bag, which you received as a reward from the Challenge Portal
- Depending on your class, you can now trade certain items at Kadala at Level 1, as you have Blood Shards from the reward bag. You can find out from which level which items drop for your class here on D3planner.com
- Get the Templar’s weapon now (Note: Demon Hunters take the Rogue’s weapon)
- Now look for an easy boss bounty. Here Zoltun Kull, Skeleton King, or Maghda are good options. Complete the boss bounty and grab the gear there
Depending on your class, you might want to wait to trade the Blood Shards until you reach a higher level. Players who have not completed a Challenge Portal should grab the Templar’s weapon on Master difficulty, look for one of the mentioned boss bounties, and complete it.
Kana’s Cube in Season 19
Unlocking Kana’s Cube: This step is now important for players who have completed the Challenge Portal.
Teleport to Act 3 to unlock Kana’s Cube. Then fully upgrade the Blacksmith in the city and craft a Level 70 weapon or armor.
Since Season 17, you can fully upgrade the Blacksmith, craft a Level 70 item, upgrade it to a legendary item in Kana’s Cube, and extract its legendary property to use for leveling. This can be done starting from Level 1.
Therefore, if you want to use a legendary property early, hope that the right legendary emerges when upgrading a rare item crafted by the Blacksmith.
The Reddit user rattlez showcased this tactic on Reddit and summarizes which class you have a good chance of success with and which item you should craft and then upgrade at the Blacksmith.
| Class | Which item to upgrade? | Success Chance |
| Demon Hunter | 1H-Dagger | 100 % |
| Necromancer | 2H-Sickle | 100 % |
| Crusader | 2H-Mace | 50 % |
| Monk | Fist Weapon | 42 % |
| Barbarian | Powerful 2H-Weapon | 60 % |
| Witch Doctor | Ceremonial Knife | 50 % |
| Wizard | Staff | 60 % |
Level 1 – 24
With this preparation, you now start the actual leveling process. Depending on your playstyle, you can level either with Massacre bonuses in the halls of agony Level 1-3 or clear the Nephalem Rifts. As a solo player, the Massacre bonuses are preferable. In groups, it’s best to use these until a maximum level of 30 and then switch to normal Nephalem Rifts.
- Every 8-10 levels, you can visit the Blacksmith and try to craft a better weapon there
- Regularly check in with the vendors in the city. They might sell you rings or amulets that offer the affix “+ damage”. These are great for leveling
- If you loot a head item with a socket, put a red gem in it, which will give you more experience points. If you have weapons with socket slots, red gems are also suitable here. They directly increase damage.
Level 24 – 40
By now, the grinding starts. You will best level in normal Rifts, i.e., Nephalem Rifts. Make sure to kill the monsters there quickly and always adjust the difficulty accordingly. It should not be too easy but also not too hard. If you spend too much time with monster groups, you should lower the difficulty.
Once you reach level 40, fully train the Mystic.
- Craft a 2H weapon for Level 70 at the Blacksmith now. Keep crafting until one of the secondary bonuses with %-affix appears (% chance to freeze, blind, etc.).
- If you get such a weapon with this affix, go to the Mystic and roll for the other secondary bonus. The goal is to get a level reduction as close to 30 levels as possible.
- Once you can equip the weapon, ramp up the difficulty. Start at Torment 6 and then gradually adjust down. This huge damage from the weapon should carry you far ahead.
If all goes according to plan, you now have a Level 70 weapon that you can already equip at level 40, a legendary property in Kana’s Cube, and armor from Kadala.
Level 40-70
With this, you are well equipped to fight your way to the maximum level. If possible, on a high torment level, so you get a lot of experience points. But this should still be time-efficient.
Complete the normal Rifts until you reach level 70. If you want, you can start farming bounties 2-3 levels earlier to collect important materials. This also provides variety away from the monotonous farming of Nephalem Rifts.

Once you reach level 70, the season really begins. Now complete Haedrig’s seasonal journey to receive your first set for free. These sets are given to you for free in Season 19 of Diablo 3.
