In this guide, we show you how to quickly reach level 70 in Season 18 of Diablo 3. We will discuss the leveling process and explain why you should definitely do a Challenge Rift.
What kind of guide is this? When a new season starts in Diablo 3, players want to reach level 70 as quickly as possible. Then the “real” game begins for many. In this guide, we aim to provide you with assistance to level up quickly and effectively in Diablo 3.
The guide is less aimed at beginners who are playing Diablo 3 for the first time. It is more geared towards experienced players who want to get through the leveling process quickly.
Season 18 in Diablo 3 – These are your favorite classes
Leveling quickly in Season 18 of Diablo 3
Since the last Season 17, not much has changed in the leveling process of Diablo 3. However, you will experience a speed boost, as the season theme of Season 18 is noticeable even from level 1.
Through a passive effect, you will regularly create circles in your surroundings. Depending on the circle, you will receive:
- More damage
- Resource cost reduction
- Or a faster cooldown of abilities
The Start
First, create a level 1 character and check the box for Seasonal Character. Are you unsure which class you want to play? Then consult the Wheel of Fate.
Enter a game and then immediately go back to the menu. Now start the Challenge Rift and complete that. You choose this step to receive the reward (bounty materials, Breath of the Dying, and gold). Once you complete the portal, the leveling begins:
- Start a new adventure game on Master difficulty
- Open your Challenge Rift bag
- Depending on your class, you can now acquire certain items from Kadala at level 1 – you have Blood Shards from the Challenge Rift bag – You can see which items drop from Kadala at which level in this overview on D3planner.com
- Grab the weapon from the Templar
- Look for an easy boss bounty (Zoltun Kull, Skeleton King, or Maghda) and complete it. This will provide even better gear for leveling
You may want to wait to exchange the Blood Shards at Kadala depending on your class until you have reached a higher level.
Kanais Cube – Yes, already now
Unlock Kanai’s Cube: Teleport to Act 3 to unlock Kanai’s Cube. Then fully upgrade the blacksmith and craft a level 70 weapon or armor.
Since Season 17, you can fully upgrade the blacksmith, craft a level 70 item, upgrade it to a legendary item, and extract its legendary property in Kanai’s Cube, allowing you to use it starting from level 1.
So if you want to use a legendary property early, you can hope that when upgrading a rare item made by the blacksmith, the right Legendary will emerge.
The player rattlez showed this tactic on Reddit and summarizes which class has good chances of success with this tactic and which item to craft and then upgrade at the blacksmith.
| Class | Which item to upgrade? | Success chance |
| Demon Hunter | 1H-Dagger | 100 % |
| Necromancer | 2H-Scythe | 100 % |
| Crusader | 2H-Mace | 50 % |
| Monk | Fist Weapon | 42 % |
| Barbarian | Powerful 2H-Weapon | 60 % |
| Witch Doctor | Ceremonial Knife | 50 % |
| Wizard | Wizard Staff | 60 & |
Level 1 – 24
Now you have made preparations for leveling. You can either farm massacre bonuses in the Halls of Agony Level 1-3 or enter Nephalem Rifts and clear them.
- Every 8-10 levels, you can try to craft a better weapon at the blacksmith.
- Check regularly with the vendors in town if they have rings or amulets that grant “+ Damage”.
- If you loot a head item with a socket, best place a red gem in there to gain more experience points. In weapon sockets, red gems are also recommended for more damage.
Level 24 – 40
The grinding starts now. You will start leveling in normal rifts. Adjust the difficulty according to your gear from time to time. If you find strong gear, you can ramp up the difficulty. If killing the monsters takes too long, reduce the difficulty.
At level 40, you will fully train the mystic.
- Craft a level 70 2H weapon at the blacksmith. Make as many as you can until one of the secondary bonuses has a % affix. (% chance to freeze, blind, etc.)
- Once you have such a weapon with a % affix, go to the mystic and roll the other secondary bonus. You want to achieve the reduction of level requirements – as close as possible to 30 levels.
- Once you can equip the weapon, increase the difficulty. Start at Torment 6 and slowly adjust downwards.
At this point, you should (if all goes well) have a level 70 weapon at level 40, a legendary property in Kanai’s Cube, and items from Kadala.
Level 40 – 70
With this equipment, you will now fight through the normal rifts on Torment 6. If you notice that killing the monsters takes too long, switch to a lower difficulty.
Do normal rifts until you reach level 70. Some players start farming the last experience points through bounties 2-3 levels before reaching level 70. This way, you will also have some materials at level 70 and a bit of variety in the last stretch.
Now the real fun of a new season begins. Complete the season journey if you want to receive the first set. This is the set available in Season 18 from Haedrig’s gift for you.
Don’t be surprised if you notice changes while collecting items. The current patch 2.6.6 has changed some legendary properties.
What build should you play? Once you have freshly reached level 70, play the build that currently fits your gear. Which build you aim for is up to you. The strongest classes and builds in Season 18 are shown in this tier list:
