The end of Season 16 in Diablo 3 comes later than expected. Blizzard allows you to enjoy the bonus for a few more weeks.
Which season is currently active in Diablo 3? Since January 18, Season 16 has been running in Diablo 3. It was originally scheduled to end on Sunday, March 17. However, the end has now been postponed.
When does Season 16 end now? The new end of S16 is nearly two months later, on May 12.
Why has Blizzard extended the season now? Since Season 14, Diablo 3 has been trying out a new feature called “Seasonal Theme.” The special thing about it is that there is a bonus for all players during the duration of a season.
- In S14, there were double treasure goblins
- S15 offered you the double amount of Horadric Caches
- S16 gives every player the Ring of Royal Grandeur passively
Blizzard explains in the forum that S16 has the most popular seasonal theme so far and they are responding to the request to extend the duration. They also need more time for S17.
Season 16 is our most popular seasonal theme yet and we are glad that so many of you are enjoying experimenting with the power effect of the Ring of Royal Grandeur. […] We already have plans for Season 17, but we will need some time to test them internally and then before releasing them on the PTR.
We also know that many of you wish for an extension of Season 16. To accommodate this request and allow us the necessary time to prepare for Season 17 (and Patch 2.6.5), we are postponing the end of Season 16 to May 12.

“Because it really changes the gameplay. Even if it’s just a small change. Double goblins and extra bounty materials speed up a few things, but they don’t change the gameplay or builds.” He says that a fifth passive ability, a fourth slot in Kanai’s Cube, or even the ability to wear two wrists could change builds. This could make the game more exciting.
