The Darkening of Tristram event in Diablo 3 confuses the community. Actually, you are supposed to disenchant an item, but that isn’t working properly right now.
This month, the Darkening of Tristram event is taking place in Diablo 3. Players have the opportunity to visit a retro dungeon and snag special loot. For a special companion, players must disenchant an item to obtain important loot. However, it’s not working as planned.
Has Blizzard not activated the companion, or is a bug at play here?
Wirt’s Leg and the Star Chart – What’s going on?
When the anniversary event “The Darkening of Tristram” started in January 2017, players could earn a cow pet. To do this, they had to solve a riddle.
Part of the riddle was to craft the item “Wirt’s Leg,” a legendary mace, and then disenchant it. The disenchanted material was supposed to be the “Star Chart,” which was important for further solving the riddle.
Players managed to do this easily last year, but in January 2018, disenchanting isn’t working properly. Players noticed that Wirt’s Leg is suddenly not displayed as a legendary item anymore but only shows as “blue.” And this also affects the loot.
Initially, a display bug or minor oversight was suspected. However, when disenchanting the mace, players are now receiving “fails” – that is, arcane dust. This is useless to them because they need the actual loot, the Star Chart.
Bug or Feature? The Long Wait for Blizzard
In the Diablo forums and on Reddit, many players are wondering if they can no longer obtain the Crown Calf, and whether Blizzard deliberately changed the loot from Wirt’s Leg. However, it may just be a bug that Blizzard could fix with a hotfix.
Now everyone is eagerly waiting for official responses. They should come soon, as it is now 9:00 AM in California and work at Blizzard has begun.
We will update this article for you when we learn more from official sources.
Update 7:00 PM
As Community Manager Nevalistis confirms, this issue is a bug. It has now been fixed, and you should receive the correct items when disenchanting now.
A few days ago, the Diablo 3 event already caused confusion because it only partially started
