The Blizzard team explained in its latest blog post how Diablo 3 will continue in the coming years. Will new seasons come? What will they look like? We will show you the details.
What’s happening with Diablo 3? Diablo 3 was released in 2012. In the following years, there were many new contents like the Necromancer DLC, new items, features, and exciting seasonal themes. But now it’s over. At least with new content. Season 29 brings the last “new” content to the game.
The development of the game will be stopped. But they won’t completely pull the plug.
The future of Diablo 3 – What’s next?
This is what Blizzard says: A few days ago, Blizzard released the patch notes for update 2.7.6, which forms the basis for season 29. In it, the team also addressed the future of the game. Now that Diablo 4 is in the spotlight, things look grim for the predecessor. What was to be expected. Because already in April, the team roughly announced what will happen next.
In the new blog post (via diablo3.com) Blizzard writes: “Brave Nephalem have fought through hordes for 11 years in seasons, experiencing gameplay-changing themes, experience-defining updates, and hellishly good events. Diablo III will continue to shine in season 29 and beyond. This season lays the foundation for the future of the game and introduces our last brand new theme.”
This is how it will continue: Starting from season 30, there will be no new seasonal themes. Instead, the team will focus on gameplay balancing and bug fixes. Legendary themes and features from past seasons will be reactivated. Furthermore, a new season is expected to start approximately every 3 months.
The action begins this coming Friday. Highlights of the last segment include a single-player mode, new monster affixes, and the special seasonal theme that makes mean bosses appear in portals.
