In Diablo 3, you can complete bounties and earn Great Horadric Chests as a reward. The contents vary by act and difficulty. We will show you what rewards the bounties bring.
What are bounties? If you open the map in the Adventure Mode of Diablo 3 (on PC with the “M” key), you will see an overview with 5 bounties in the bottom right corner of each act. They are always similar: “Kill mob XY and 50 other enemies,” “Purify the cursed chest at this location,” “Kill all enemies on level 2 of this cave,” and so on.
For completing the individual bounties, you can expect some gold and experience points (EP). If you complete 5 bounties from one act, you will receive a Great Horadric Chest. We will show you what is inside and how the chests differ from act to act.
Bounty Rewards Act 1 to 5 – What’s Inside?
This is the loot: In each Great Horadric Chest, you will find crafting materials, a few items, gold, and recipes (until you have all possible recipes). Additionally, there is a chance for legendary items, which you can only obtain from these chests. The chance for these items increases at higher difficulty levels. Which legendary items drop depends on which act you received the chest from.
Below, we show you the loot at Torment 16 difficulty. At lower difficulties, the chances of getting items and the number of materials decrease.
Act I

Which legendary items can be inside? From the bounty of Act I, the Ring of Royal Grandeur is particularly worthwhile. It is part of many builds, as it reduces the required number of set items by 1. The other four items are rarely used in builds.
Act II

Which legendary items can be inside? Act IV has no “own” legendary items that can drop from the Great Horadric Chest. Instead, there is a chance to receive two legendary items from all other acts.

Why do bounties exist?
Here’s what they’re good for: At the beginning of a new season, players complete the bounties to unlock, for example, recipes for the blacksmith. Additionally, the bounties are needed to complete the seasonal journey.
Even during the further course of the game, the special act materials are needed. If you want to extract legendary properties or reforge legendary items with Kanai’s Cube, you will need the materials.
There are even communities like “Bounties and Rifts” where you can form groups to farm bounties together. Players split up among the different acts and all contribute to quickly collecting the 5 Great Horadric Chests from a game. Speed builds are preferred in this process.
