Blizzard is very concerned about the fairness during the seasons of the hack ‘n slash Diablo 3. Therefore, it seems that a ban wave is currently taking place in the USA, which aims to clean up the ranking of the current Season 9.
Due to the fact that players are currently receiving significantly too much bonus to their class’s main attribute with increasing Paragon level in Diablo 3, and thus the damage they deal increases enormously, a bot problem has developed in the game. Botting has become even more popular through this system than it already was before.
Because this gives players an easy way to fight their way to the top ranks of the leaderboard. But that is not the point.
Cheaters are being targeted if they are at the top of the leaderboard
As reported by the website Troupster, a ban wave is currently taking place, through which Blizzard wants to clean up the leaderboard of Season 9 of Diablo 3. At least 13 players are said to have been affected so far – players who stood at the top of the 4-player leaderboards. However, this is currently only the case in the USA.
The problem also exists in the European and Asian versions. Whether Blizzard will also act in this way here is currently uncertain, but one can actually assume so. However, it would also make sense to address the core problem and revise the Paragon system so that it can no longer be exploited in the mentioned way.
Season 10 is already on the starting blocks
Perhaps Blizzard is planning something like this for the upcoming Season 10. Because this is already in preparation and can be tested on the test realm of Diablo 3 including the upcoming Patch 2.5.0.
How Blizzard detects cheaters remains a mystery, but the bans are likely carried out manually, which suggests that the accounts are indeed checked beforehand. This does not indicate automated software. It is definitely good that Blizzard is taking action against cheaters in Diablo 3.
