In the new trailer for Diablo 2: Resurrected, the major evils Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo are presented in stylish enhanced graphics.
The new trailer for the remaster Diablo 2: Resurrected revolves around the three major villains of the game, the demons Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo. It is a compilation of the story cutscenes from the original game, which now shine in stylish new graphics while looking both beautiful and properly disgusting.
Recently, 7 new trailers for all 7 classes from Diablo 2 Resurrected have been released.
In the trailer, we follow the journey of the human Marius, who joins the dark wanderer and travels through the world of humans, Sanctuary, with him. The events that occur during this journey trigger the story of Diablo 2.
The archangel Tyrael also makes an appearance in the trailer, doing everything in his power to prevent the major evils from breaking free from their prisons.
You can watch the trailer here, but beware: it contains some spoilers:
This is what lies behind the trailer: In the lore of the Diablo universe, the Burning Hells are ruled by powerful demon lords. They were born from the seven heads of the original evil Tathamet, with three of them holding a special status. They are:
- Baal, Lord of Destruction
- Mephisto, Lord of Hatred
- Diablo, Lord of Terror
They stem from the three dominant heads of Tathamet and are thus more powerful than their lesser evil siblings. Since ancient times, they have led the armies of Hell against the High Heavens to annihilate the angels. All three brothers have already achieved numerous victories in the eternal war, but none of them was decisive.
After a rebellion of the lesser evils in the Burning Hells, the brothers were banished to the world of humans, where they exerted their corrupting influence. They were captured by the Horadrim, an ancient order of mages, in magical artifacts known as soul stones.
This is Tyrael: The archangel of justice is one of the 7 members of the Angiris Council that rule over the High Heavens. Since the discovery of Sanctuary, he has shown great interest in humans and is one of the few who supports them in the fight against the rulers of Hell.
He visited the world of humans regularly, as he firmly believed that humanity has the potential to fight alongside the angels against the demons. Thus, he learned about the banishment of the great evils and their influence on humanity and decided to intervene.
Fans celebrate the trailer and nostalgia

But one thing seems to disturb the longtime fans. Some of them expressed disappointment that the voice of the archangel Tyrael has apparently been changed (via reddit.)
This change was not well received by a part of the fans, even though it did not significantly impair the overall anticipation. On the official Diablo YouTube channel, the trailer has over 9,800 upvotes with just under 250 downvotes.
