Blizzard has announced the first details about the alpha of Diablo 2 Resurrected. This is set to start on Friday, April 9, for selected participants. We at MeinMMO will reveal all the details.
What kind of alpha is this? This first test is supposed to be a single-player technical alpha. It will only test Acts I and II, as well as selected classes.
This test will take place without an NDA, allowing testers to stream or share their experiences in videos. Selected members of the community may even start their live streams on Thursday.
However, Blizzard emphasizes in the related blog post that this involves content in development, which is not meant to represent the final version of the game.
How long does the alpha last and who can participate? The alpha is set to start this Friday, April 9, at 4:00 PM German time and will run until Monday, April 12, at 7:00 PM.
Selected players who have registered in advance for the alpha on the Diablo 2 Resurrected website are eligible to participate. Invitations are expected to be sent out in waves throughout the day.
Moreover, there should be at least one more alpha test where multiplayer content can be tested.
Can you still sign up for the alpha now? That is not entirely clear. You can definitely try, and your registration should at least count for the second alpha.
To do this, go to the official website of Diablo 2 Resurrected. There, click on the button “Registration for the Technical Alpha” and log in with your Battle.net account. With a bit of luck, you will be selected for the tests.
The contents and system requirements of the first alpha
What exactly is included in the first technical alpha? The following contents can be tested:

What can you expect with Diablo 2 Resurrected? The hack ‘n’ slash is a remaster of the classic from 2000. Blizzard mainly wants to modernize the graphics, for which a nice 3D engine will be used.
The gameplay of Diablo 2 is to be preserved. You will experience the action RPG basically just as you remember it from before, only with better graphics. The levels will be recreated exactly as they appear in the original. Additionally, there will be some quality-of-life improvements that can make the gameplay easier for you.
In the 6-minute gameplay video of Diablo 2: Resurrected you can already get an impression of what the new old game looks like.
