The players of Diablo 2 Resurrected on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X have a big wish: They want lobbies, preferably already at the release of the game. But the Diablo head at Blizzard, Rod Fergusson, rejects this wish – at least for now. No new features will come before the launch, Blizzard is focusing on stability and optimization.
This is the biggest wish of the fans: The biggest wish of the players on consoles is clearly the online lobbies.
They want to create their own instances of Diablo 2, name them, and invite friends to play with them.
This is a standard feature on PC that makes Diablo 2 a successful multiplayer game for many. However, this feature is completely missing on PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Even during the beta, the missing online lobbies were a major point of criticism.
Anyone who wants to play with others must add players as friends through the features of their respective platform and can only then play with them.
In the original Diablo, you could simply open a lobby, name it “Baal Run” or “Trade Room,” and then wait for people to find the lobby, recognize what would happen there by the title, and then join the game.
A console player is now asking people on Twitter to rally for this topic and advertise it to show Blizzard how much they want lobbies and chat on consoles.

“No new features until after the launch”
This is Blizzard’s response: The head of the franchise, Rod Fergusson, speaks up. He says: It doesn’t matter how many upvotes this request receives. Blizzard is aware of the request. However, there are only 4 weeks left until the launch, and nothing will happen during that time:
We have heard the community feedback, but with only four weeks until the launch, we are focused on stability and optimizations. No new features will come until after the launch.
Will the feature even come? That is unknown. Fergusson says: Please let us first get through the launch, then we can talk about what happens next.
How important is the feature? For some players, the ability to play in their own lobbies is crucial. They say: The lobbies determine whether they will really buy Diablo 2 Resurrected, return the game, or cancel the preorder.
For them, it is not a “new feature,” because Diablo 2 should be an “authentic experience like back then” and for many, lobbies are part of Diablo 2, also to “mule” items (transfer them from one hero to another) or to trade.
For others, the feature doesn’t matter. They say: I just want to play singleplayer.
We have already reported on MeinMMO about why the lobbies are so important:
