Diablo 2: Resurrected offers 7 classes with countless options to skill them. To help you keep track, MeinMMO presents 2 strong builds for the Sorceress in this guide.
What are these builds? The Sorceress is one of the most popular classes in Diablo 2 and is characterized by her diverse magical abilities. She is known for her high damage potential and her ability to control enemies.
MeinMMO presents 2 builds that play the Sorceress ideally: Blizzard and Lightning. Both are great for farming and have their own pros and cons:
- For beginners and coop gameplay, the Blizzard build is better
- For the absolute endgame, the Lightning build is stronger
In the individual sections, we will show you the pros and cons of each build and explain which skills you need and how to distribute your attributes best. There will also be tips for your gear, playstyle, and a gameplay video.
Blizzard Sorceress – The Perfect Build for Coop
These are the skills you need:
- Warmth (Fire) – 1 point
- Static Field (Lightning) – 1 point
- Telekinesis (Lightning) – 1 point
- Teleport (Lightning) – 1 point
- Ice Armor – 1 point
- Frost Nova – 1 point
- Ice Blast – 20 points
- Ice Spike – 20 points
- Blizzard – 20 points
- Glacial Spike – 20 points
- Cold Mastery – Enough points to bring enemy resistance to -100%
- Frost Sphere – All remaining points
Level Warmth and Ice Armor early, as these will help you during the leveling process. You deal damage in the early levels primarily with Ice Blast, so you should also invest points here early. Telekinesis and Teleport are useful tools that you will need for exploration. However, you only need Blizzard later.

How to allocate your attribute points:
- Strength – Enough to wear the corresponding gear
- Dexterity – Enough to achieve a 75% block chance (only with shield and only Hardcore)
- Vitality – All remaining points go into Vitality
- Energy – No points
Which items are important? For the Blizzard Sorceress, you should own and wear as many “+Skill” items as possible – especially those that give a bonus to cold skills. Otherwise, you are quite free in your choice of items. However, pay particular attention to the following properties:
- +Skill
- higher cast rate
- resistances and recovery after being hit
- higher chance of finding magical items – here you can find the best farming spots
The Tal Rasha set is a popular choice for most Sorceress builds and is also excellent for the Blizzard Sorceress. Especially if you want to play other builds like Lightning later, you will be ideally prepared with this set.
For your mercenary, the rune word “Insight” (Weapon) is useful. This grants an aura for mana regeneration and increases the chance of finding magical items. In our guide, we explain all rune words in Diablo 2 and how to build them. Just make sure to spell the words correctly:
The best companion for a mercenary is one from Act 2 with defensive or offensive skills.
How do I play the build? When leveling, you primarily use Ice Blast and Glacial Spike. With Ice Blast, you deal a lot of damage and can freeze enemies for a long time, but the skill moves quite slowly. Glacial Spike reliably hits multiple targets, but freezes them for a shorter duration.
Once you start farming, your main damage will come from Blizzard. Use the ability on as many enemies as possible and keep them in the area for as long as you can. Kite them behind you and use Teleport when necessary.

Lightning Sorceress – The Build for Maximum Damage
These are the skills you need:
- Ice Armor (Cold) – 1 point
- Warmth (Fire) – 1 point
- Chain Lightning – 20 points
- Nova – 20 points
- Lightning – 20 points
- Charged Bolt – 20 points
- Lightning Mastery – 20 points
- Static Field – 1 point
- Telekinesis – 1 point
- Teleport – 1 point
At the beginning, it is important to allocate points to Ice Armor and Warmth. These will significantly help you during leveling through protection and regeneration. You should also learn Teleport and Telekinesis as early as possible. Otherwise, Lightning will be your most important spell early in the game.

These attributes are important:
- Strength – Enough to wear the corresponding gear
- Dexterity – Enough to achieve a 75% block chance (only with shield and only Hardcore)
- Vitality – All remaining points go into Vitality
- Energy – No points
Which items are important? For the Lightning Sorceress, you should own and wear as many “+Skill” items as possible – especially those that give a bonus to lightning skills. Otherwise, you are quite free in your choice of items. However, pay particular attention to the following properties:
- +Skill
- higher cast rate
- resistances and recovery after being hit
However, the rune word “Infinity” (Weapon) is particularly important for your mercenary. This grants your companion several lightning skills and also increases the chance of finding magical items. In our guide, we explain all rune words in Diablo 2 and how to build them.
The best companion for a mercenary is one from Act 2 with defensive skills.
How do I play the build? Your main spells will be Lightning and Chain Lightning. Lightning only hits a single target or targets in a line but deals more damage. Chain Lightning hits multiple targets consecutively but costs significantly more mana.
With Teleport, you can quickly move across the maps and look for monster groups. Then you can take them down with your lightning skills or let your mercenary do the work – especially if the resistances are too high.
In the video, you can watch the build and gameplay of the Lightning Sorceress by Diablo 2 expert dbrunski:
If you still have trouble with the rune words, you can find in our guide all rune upgrades and their properties. This will help you get the gear you need faster. Especially for newcomers, there are some rune words you should definitely remember:
Since the Sorceress is versatile, the builds give you a lot of freedom to adjust your playstyle with certain items. Just remember to equip your mercenary well – he will help you tremendously, especially in solo play.
