The recently released RPG Ni No Kuni 2 can captivate RPG fans – and the next work of the developers already sounds interesting. It is supposed to reach the dimensions of an MMORPG and take place in the modern world.
Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom from the developer studio Level-5 plays out like a beautiful anime. The story unfolds slowly, allowing players to empathize, curse, and cry along. All of this is presented in anime graphics reminiscent of the successful films of the Japanese studio Ghibli. Beneath all the graphic splendor and the beautiful story with its profound heroes lies a complex RPG whose mechanics are convincing.

Ni No Kuni as an MMORPG set in our time?
Ni No Kuni 2 is a purely single-player RPG. But what if you could experience something like that in an MMORPG? Perhaps this will not remain a pipe dream, as Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5, explained that his team will work next on a role-playing game set in our time.
And what does this have to do with an MMORPG? There are currently some hints that this upcoming RPG will have online components. Although Akihiro Hino does not explicitly want to label it as an MMORPG, there are some indications to that effect.
- Level-5 developed an MMORPG at the beginning of the millennium titled True Fantasy Live Online, which was shut down in 2004
- The team was very attached to this MMORPG
- The new game is supposed to have the scale of an MMORPG
- The game is something very dear to the developers’ hearts

Developers want to program their dream title
Level-5 is celebrating its 20th anniversary and the team wants to work on something that they can pour their heart and soul into. It sounds like we will see an MMORPG next. If this game manages to convey emotions like Ni No Kuni 2 and tells such an epic story, then MMO fans can look forward to something great. However, the game will not be released this year.
