In Destiny 2, the gap until the release of Witch Queen is constantly narrowing, and more and more information about the big expansion is being revealed. One of them includes a catalyst for a popular weapon and mods for exotic weapons. We will show you all the info on this.
What happened? Bungie’s Weapon Feature Lead Chris Proctor has now answered two important questions regarding the future of Exotics in a podcast. One of them concerns a certain Exo, namely the bow “Le Monarque“. He is supposed to receive a catalyst.
Furthermore, the question was raised about whether exotic weapons will eventually get mod slots to embed Vorpal Weapon or similar into the respective guns. Bungie also had a clear answer on this.
Catalyst for Le Monarque and no mods for Exotics
The exotic bow “Le Monarque” was released when the Black Armory celebrated its launch. As a random drop in the forge rounds, this bow particularly shone due to its toxic perk. It has found use in PvE and PvP, and Guardians have long hoped for a catalyst for this bow.
Is a catalyst finally coming? Chris Proctor was asked about this and his response was simply “Soon”. Such a word leaves much room for interpretation. Whether “soon” refers to the start of Witch Queen or only generally in Witch Queen is unknown.
Since Void 3.0 is being released with the Witch Queen DLC, this toxic Void weapon would fit perfectly. Maybe it will allow for good builds that harmonize with the adjusted super, like the Exo “Agers Scepter” and the Stasis ultimate.
No mods for Exotics: In the interview, a question was also asked as to why Guardians cannot embed mods in exotic weapons. Chris replied that Exo weapons with mods would completely destroy the game balance. Bugs and glitches would arise that could affect the entire game.
For example, a Falcon Moon with Backup Mag could elevate the stackable crit damage to such insane heights that this effect would be nullified.
Another example would be the Pika. With the mod “Icarus Grip”, the precision in the air would be so high that it would be unacceptable.
Exotic weapons are exotic because they stand out from the legendary weapons. Many intrinsic perks lead to drastic effects, where such a mod would be overkill. One might assume that mods were mainly created for the so-called refinement of the legendary category.
However, it is still interesting that the developers have also dealt with this question, right? What do you think about the upcoming release of the catalyst for Le Monarque? Are you excited about the effect and do you find it a shame that exotic weapons will not get mod slots? Let us know what you think!
